I guess the real questions we have to be asking ourselves is: 1) how bad does it have to get this year before Ewing gets fired and; 2) how good would we have to be this year for the basketball program to once again become nationally relevant. I'd say that a loss or two to our supposedly inferior remaining OOC opponents coupled with no more than 3-4 BE wins would doom Patrick while a sweep of our remaining OOC opponents plus 8-10 BE wins would probably save him and possibly help keep the program afloat. The really scary thing is what happens if the first scenario comes to pass? While firing Patrick after another disastrous season would be fully justified and please most of us on this Board the fallout would be disastrous. How many of our existing players would transfer out and how many quality recruits and transfers would want to come in? In short, another disastrous year plus a Ewing firing would mean a complete rebuild and unless the rebuild was fast and unbelievably successful (a la JT3) it could result in the DePauling of GU basketball. I've been a fan of GU basketball for over 50 years. Like most of you I've seen the good, the bad, and now the ugly. But I really fear what this year may mean to our basketball program. It really can’t get much worse.

Perhaps they’d like to be in a place with actual professional coaching where they have a chance to improve and be on a successful team? Who knows what their options are but this is a lost cause and it seems like few of these guys prioritize the overall college experience so they might as well try to find a better basketball situation. This one can’t be much worse. Could I at least get some screen credit for giving you the opportunity for yet another broadside? There may be somebody with PT issues who is looking elsewhere, but the main rotation guys knew they were getting a team and coach that had lost 21 in a row. Already knowing that, I doubt they’re foolish enough to jump ship mid-season. If you are Jordan Riley, why would you stay? It’s clear the coach thinks very little of you so why stick around for more of the same? The freshmen have to be shocked by the incompetence of the coaching staff but I can see them sticking around til the end of the year before leaving. The rest of the guys have used up their free transfer so they are stuck and must be absolutely sick when thinking about the mess they are in.

Given the free transfer rule (and I assume it means a player could leave after finals and play right away at his new school), you have to wonder how many of these guys will decide to cut bait in the next few weeks. So they can go someplace else “better” with an established rotation and sit? Perhaps they’d like to be in a place with actual professional coaching where they have a chance to improve and be on a successful team? Who knows what their options are but this is a lost cause and it seems like few of these guys prioritize the overall college experience so they might as well try to find a better basketball situation. Does anyone know if the APR penalties are coming back? I am convinced the only thing that could get the admin to move off of Ewing are scholarship and postseason (LOL) penalties due to academic failure. Otherwise, this guy might get another extension.

Obviously Harris isn’t handling this well but it’s fair to wonder how it was communicated and if that has anything to do with his reaction. It’s hardly the first time that a starter has lost his job and not the first time that the starter has decided to leave. But, given the incredible and constant exodus from this team and school under this coach, it seems pretty clear that the coach and the way he handles these situations has something to do with the way the players react and their decisions, en masse, to flee.

I'll preface this by saying I know they weren't successful in their stints as the Head Coach but to add two former HC's to your staff but still run the same stuff is mind-boggling to me. Meh, Baldwin was 7-11 ('19/20), 7-10(20/21) and 7-11 (21/22). Nickleberry was 5-11 (16/17), 10-23 (17/18), 17-16 (18/19). It's not exactly like we brought in John Chaney and Lenny Wilkens to be our assistants. Maybe their schemes stink too. And our de facto head of basketball operations was 9-22 at Ball State in his lone year prior to manufacturing a story and then deleting his hard drive to hide evidence. Why would we expect success with this outfit simply because one was a once in a lifetime talent? Under Pat Ewing, it’s always the new guys that will save the day. This time, it’s both new players and coaches who get the hype and get to take the fall.

What’s the deal with that sofa in front of the student section’s first row? You don’t expect Ronny Thompson to be uncomfortable at the game, do you?

I just bet on GU +105 so I’m predicting we win. I’ll go ahead and predict 72-66 GU. Oh well, I somehow underestimated how poorly Ewing could coach a game.

This is what two bottom of the table teams look like.

If we are talking beat downs….Ohio may be a possibility. This is one way to prepare for the worst. NU stinks. There is no beat down coming, at least not from them.

What’s the moneyline? Seems like a bet on GU is free money.

This is incorrect. I am an alum and a fan. I’m also honest and, since there is nothing positive going on with this team, I don’t say anything positive. I will, however, be extremely happy and positive when Ewing is fired. If you are an "alum and a fan" then the only way this comment makes sense is if you're just unobservant and not very good at understanding basketball. But we all kind of knew that already. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, so you must be some kind of special effed up. Beating Coppin St and Green Bay is, at best, neutral. But, Heath getting to play is definitely a positive. It’s BS the guy was in limbo for a minute let alone as long as he was. Players are getting more freedom and agency but they deserve way more.

If you are in fact an alum, you are a discredit to the university. ...and the general human population. You're not a fan -- you're delusional. What are my delusions? That Ewing is a failure and needs to go? That this team has been and will continue to be horrible?

FFS dude GIVE IT A REST. You don’t have to be like this with EVERY single post. Double97 is not a GTown fan. Just adding hoya to your user name does not make you a fan. He/She is only here to cause negativity. You cannot find one positive post from this poster🤷🏾♂️ This is incorrect. I am an alum and a fan. I’m also honest and, since there is nothing positive going on with this team, I don’t say anything positive. I will, however, be extremely happy and positive when Ewing is fired.

FFS dude GIVE IT A REST. You don’t have to be like this with EVERY single post. The Hoya win was a tough day for Locust Club. Silence or lame jokes mask their disappointment. This reminds me a lot of the joy last year when we beat UMBC. Maybe this season will turn out better.

Search YouTube for “adults dunking on children” and you’ll see the type of competition the Hoyas faced yesterday. FFS dude GIVE IT A REST. You don’t have to be like this with EVERY single post. When they play teams that are not among the bottom 2% of D1, I will not suggest that someone watch videos of adults dunking on children if they want to see highlights of the game. I promise.

The numbers I have are per KenPom. And, the Bart Torvik numbers are very similar - 94,0, 98.6, 101.1. A simple RTG is not how you should measure it regardless. You measure in comparison to the team and other players. All RTG is not created equal. ’ However you want to measure it, Heath will have to be the greatest player in the history of the game by a couple orders of magnitude to fix this mess.
