The more I think about this hire, the worse it seems, not only from an ethical and journalistic integrity standpoint, but from a business standpoint. Who is this hire for? Democrats hate her because she is a lying insurrectionist who can’t be trusted, establishment republicans hate her because she is too MAGA and has enabled the MAGA cult and can’t be trusted, and (to a lesser extent, because they love to be outright lied to by Fox, OAN, and Newsmax) the MAGA cult hate her because they don’t think she’s drunk enough of the MAGA cult brand kool-aid and can’t be trusted. Just like the CNN town hall, someone should get fired for making a terrible business decision. NBC has alienated the first two groups (you know, the only people who watch their networks) and won’t make converts out of the third group. Just pure business stupidity icing on an ethically fraught cake. Perhaps they figure if everyone hates her, she must be a great hire. News flash: NBC hires Alex Jones.

How much of a sucker do you have to be to purchase the Truth Social stock? That thing is an absolutely worthless flaming turd. Of course, it’s what Trump does best: scam people and leave them holding the bag. I can’t think of a single stock that’s price is more fundamentally divorced from its underlying value. Truth Social has 860,000 (860,000!?!) daily active users and is losing active users by 39% year over year. There is going to be no revenue, and, aside from hemorrhaging users already, there is a built in cap on the number of users who would ever consider signing up. It’s not even in the top 100 most downloaded apps in any store. His followers are gonna end up riding the value all the way to zero and lose all their money on the way. And they will absolutely deserve it for continuing to believe in this low rent con artist. The only money to made on this thing in retail is in the immediate future by dumping the inflated shares off on MAGA troglodytes. It's a matter of pride. They'll be able to take their stock certificates and hang them over the toilet.

This obviously can't be true, since every immigrant is a criminal rapist murderer who is poisoning the blood of our country.

Kolek and RB. What do I win? They are different people. Nice job! Kolek developed into a pretty nice player the next couple of seasons. I believe Rowan will as well, it's a shame it won't be at Georgetown. Maybe. But let's face it, there aren't many players that develop from Kolek year one to first team All American. It's not impossible, but it's not real likely.

His offensive metrics are better than Epp’s across the board. We all know we only had one guy who could reliably put the ball in the bucket last year….with two….that really changes the dynamics. Also, his defensive metrics are better than any guard we had last year. So are my grandfather's, and if he were still alive he'd be about 130 years old.

So upset darlings and potential Cinderella teams McNeese (bye, Will Wade) and College of Charleston got clobbered, while Yale and Oakland moved on. I did not have Yale or Oakland in my brackets. I guess I should have picked against the SEC. At least James Madison is moving on. It was mentioned in the telecast that back in the day James Madison beat - wait for it - Georgetown. As I recall that was one of Pops' early NCAA teams.

Rep. Mike Gallagher announces he’ll resign in April, narrowing House GOP vote margin to one Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) announced Friday he will resign effective April 19, leaving the slim House GOP majority with a one-vote margin that will make it even harder to pass legislation. Under Wisconsin law, Gallagher’s seat is likely to remain vacant until January, with the November general election to determine who wins his seat. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/03/22/mike-gallagher-republican-leaving-house/Thanks for the anniversary present, Mike Gallagher!

Kentucky basketball, once again, proving that it is a fraud. Another early exit for John Calipari and the Wildcats. One tournament win in 4 years at Kentucky isn't great, and makes me wonder whether Big Blue Nation might be tiring of Calipari. On the other hand, a legend was born tonight - that kid from Oakland - who looks around 30 - coming off the bench and hitting 10 threes.

Proving that in America, anyone can graduate from law school, pass a bar exam and hang out a shingle. Pro-Trump lawyer Stefanie Lambert surrendered Thursday to Michigan authorities in connection with her 2020 election tampering indictment, after a wild week where she was labeled a fugitive and spent a night in jail after being arrested in Washington, DC. The special prosecutor who charged Lambert in Michigan, DJ Hilson, confirmed that she turned herself in Thursday morning and appeared in Oakland County Circuit Court. www.cnn.com/2024/03/21/politics/stefanie-lambert-pro-trump-lawyer-arrest/index.htmlAnd it's the law firm of The Demented One, Jenna, Sydney and Stef.

I’m not enthusiastic about Biden. But I’m very enthusiastic about avoiding another Trump presidency. I imagine a lot of donors (and ultimately, voters) feel the same way. They might not be thrilled about sending an octogenarian back to the White House for four more years, but they know the alternative is much worse, so when push comes to shove, they’re on on Biden. That's about where I am. An octogenarian who is not a psychopath is preferable to a soon-to-be octogenarian who is. Not to mention a racist, fascist, xenophobic misogynist. The latest testimony released about the WH valet who testified that the psychopath had no visible reaction when told that an insurrectionist had been killed is chilling. Until he decided that it played well with his base to characterize her as a hero and a martyr, of which she is, of course, neither.

It takes a special kind of hubris/stupidity to cheat when you know that there are extra eyes on you. These are the kinds of characters our university leadership is bringing into the program - the level of hypocrisy is stunning. You keep dodging my question. If you were Jack DeGioia last March would you have hired Rick Pitino? Maybe hoyaboya is Jack DeGioia.

I had and have a moral objection to Pitino - there is a difference between paying dudes and their families and procuring hookers for minors (or even banging waitresses on restaurant tables though I certainly have no objection to unmarried guys doing that, but if memory serves Tricky Dick was married at the time). I have brought this up many times and have heard people say “whatever” but have never heard a defense of why it is OK to have a guy like that at our school. Would you let your kid go on an Pitino supervised recruiting knowing he may try to get them laid? Come on fans of the guy, defend that! And that’s not even talking about 123 vacated wins, which I never want to see happen here even if it meant winning our next 123 straight. As for Johnson, I find it a little icky but per above, cash and whores are different and I think it matters that we would be taking him while he is on restricted duty, I.e. embracing the sanction. I know little else about him so don’t have much to say o. The merits, but unlike most, I still TTS. Please don't refer to Pitino as Tricky Dick. That moniker is clearly owned elsewhere.

Well, it looks like my exchange with The Dragon a few pages back was unfortunately prescient. I'm very sad to see Brumbaugh leave but I do think it's likely that he didn't want to see his minutes reduced next season. We now clearly need two, possibly three guards in the portal since at this point in time our only guard with any experience is Epps.
I would also add that better now than a month from now.

Interesting discussion here, but one thing that hasn't been mentioned: Isn't it likely that Cooley has discussed plans for next season with returning members of the team, so hopefully they know what to expect and have bought in, or if they haven't bought in, then we're likely to see names in the portal before too long? Yes and no. Do exit and interviews and discussions happen with existing players? Of course. But some of their future roles are dependent on what happens with the portal. The convo Sunday with Rowan was likely something like - We're looking at bringing in a veteran starting PG to take the load off you and let you develop in the backup spot. With you taking the reigns when you're an upperclassmen. But if then 2 point guards Cooley thinks are better than Rowan come available and want to come - is he going to say no? Then Rowan has to decide, is he willing to be a third stringer with no future guarantees or hit the portal. I have no insight on Rowan imparticular, just a hypothetical. But this type of situation is pretty commonplace. While the portal is mostly advantage player - coaches use it plenty to push guys out by recruiting over them. Yep, don't dispute that, and there is certainly the possibility that the portal doesn't play out in the manner discussed with the players. In that event, all bets are off. But I do think that, using Rowan as an example, if he didn't buy in to having an experienced point guard as a mentor, then he might have already entered the portal.

MAGA GOPers are shatbit crazy. It is truly a cult. An attorney for former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne was detained at the federal courthouse in Washington on Monday after defending her decision to disseminate internal documents from Dominion Voting Systems in an effort to revive long-debunked claims about the 2020 election. Stefanie Lambert was facing a bench warrant from a state court in Michigan, where she is accused of taking part in a conspiracy to tamper with voting machines in hopes of finding proof of fraud. She is simultaneously representing Byrne, who is being sued for defamation by Dominion over related falsehoods claiming the firm’s machines enabled vote tampering. Lambert responded that she was under no obligation to adhere to the protective order because the emails contained “evidence of a crime,” suggesting the situation was analogous to being handed “a dead body” as part of the case discovery. Specifically, she alleged that they were proof that “Dominion conspired with foreign nationals in Serbia” to undermine the U.S. election system. Dominion’s attorneys responded that this was a “xenophobic conclusion” based only on the fact that the company has some overseas employees. A Dominion spokeswoman added in an email that “any allegation that Dominion employees anywhere tried to interfere with any election is flatly false.” www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2024/03/18/attorney-michigan-voting-machine-lawyer-arrested-dominion/This is unbelievable. I don't want this to sound sexist, but I'm waiting for the new law firm Powell, Ellis & Lambert to be formed. "We specialize in lunatic law!" Actually, I forgot. Demented Rudy can be the senior partner.

Of course no one will lend Donald Trump the half-billion dollars he needs to put up while appealing his fraud case. Would you? In recent months, the former president has racked up a series of costly legal judgments for his many misdeeds. And when I say “costly,” I mean slightly pricier than the Trump-brand gold sneakers. In fact, after summing up the judgments across all of Trump’s cases so far, he already owes more than the entire gross domestic product of several island nations — put together. In the most expensive case, Trump was found liable for lying about the value of his real estate assets so he could get better terms on loans and insurance. In that judgment, he owes $464 million, after interest. He’s appealing the case, which was brought by the New York attorney general. In the meantime, a judge has said Trump must put up cash or bond to prove he’s good for the money and isn’t appealing merely to delay payment for a while. Got that? Trump owes this money because he fraudulently misrepresented the value of his assets, and now apparently no one will accept those assets as collateral. Oops. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/03/18/trump-civil-fraud-case-appeal-bond/Witch hunt. Come on, all of you Trump supporters, put your money where your mouth is and send some bucks to the Big Insurrectionist.
