basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=103&tid=96056622&mid=96056622&sid=910&style=2The link is from the Rivals main recruiting message board. For those that can't access the link, a Ky fan asked about Dunnigan. An individual from DePaul's website that supposedly has very strong sources with Dunningan, states that the Hoyas are his current leader. Later on in the same thread, someone from Indiana's website also indicated that Gtown leads for Dunnigan, but we haven't offered him a scholarship yet.

More info regarding Dunigan, specifically his performance so far at the NBPA Top 100 Camp:
Michael Dunigan 6’10 C Chicago (IL) Farragut Academy 2008: The meanest big man on the circuit made his presence known in a late game by dunking any time he had the slightest daylight and blocking a handful of shots. Dunigan is beginning to separate himself from the other centers in the class.
I'm just trying to figure out why we haven't offered this kid...

The 2 priorities for 08 or Monroe and Dunigan. A lot of the scouting services do not update that info. The only way GU would not have offered him already is that they are waiting on some kind of academic clearance.

It's not academic clearance, i can tell you that. The kid is qualified and has a 4.0 gpa. There have been several sources which have said we haven't offered yet. That doesn't mean we won't offer or aren't actively recruiting him. Clearly he's one of our priorities.

Per Rivals: Chicago area center Michael Dunigan may not blow observers away a lot of glitz and glamour with his game. In fact, that's not his game. He's a nuts and bolts guy. And all packaged nicely in a frame that will only get bigger, stronger and nastier in college. He plays with a mean streak (what else would expect from a kid that plays for the AAU team Mean Streets) and uses his size well. A couple of pro players commented about his size fitting in nicely at their level. "

It will come down to GU, ILL, and Purdue. Like we discussed before, he wants to play with his buddy Humphrey. His mom would also like him closer to home. So I will not be surprised if he stays in the Big 10.

Don't worry about that last sentence Hoya4ever. The same was said about Roy and we know how that turned out.

yeah, Dunigan is way to raw to be one and done. He will be a three year guy at least.

He's a very solid player. Ranked 73 by Rivals. Started blossoming in the past year. His parents are Illinois alums and right now Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Oregon and Illinois are on his list.

yeah, Humphrey is solid, but not worth offering a schollie to get Dunigan. THis is a quote from Humprhey:
"Matt is adamant that he and Chicago Farragut senior-to-be Mike Dunigan want to sign with the same school. Humphrey and Dunigan, a highly rated center who attended the Shootout even though Farragut wasn't in the field, have been friends since the fifth grade.
"We started this thing together, why not finish it?" Matt Humphrey said."

Dunigan is very interested in Hoyas--the Hoyas aren't in any rush to fill the final 2 spots and they are tracking Greg Monroe like their lives depend on it, so I think they were waiting for some time to evaluate whether Dunigan is a guy they would offer--he's got the grades, and his game is a bit more physical then finesse--but he can pass and is a very good FT shooter for a big man, excellent defensive player as well--if they offer--they'll be in this up until he decides.

good points RDF. To be honest, the 09 class is much better than the 08 class. So if GU can get and early commit from a guy like Reik. Then I would not mind if they just went after Monroe for 08. If Monroe commits elsewhere then just take the 3 commits(Clark, Braswell, Sims), and go after all of the great players GU is in on in 09. That would make us thin on the front line though, just like we will be this coming season.
