Still the Hoyas? 'Nova (Sheridan and Sumpter), Syracuse (Watkins and Roberts), and Pitt (Gray and Kendall) suffer sizable losses.
The only one in the running is Louisville. Some combination of Williams, Palacios, Caracter, and Padgett vs. some combination of Summers, Ewing, Macklin, and Hibbert.
Have to give the nod to the Hoyas with the wildcard being the play of Caracter who seems like he has the potential to be second only to Hibbert but also could use his rehab time for his knee to turn into former Cardinal Troy Jackson aka "Escalade."
Wait wait forgot UConn with Thabeet, Adrien, and...someone. I really couldn't name another frontcourt player on that team so I'll say they also trail these two.

Hmmm... close. I give the edge to the Hoyas. Why? Preseason all-world Roy.

Hmmm... close. I give the edge to the Hoyas. Why? Preseason all-world Roy. Yup. Roy destroyed / embarrassed Padgett in L'Ville last year. I expect him to do it again this year. I doubt even Character at his best can embarrass a Hoya the way Roy did to Padgett

We do have to remember character didn't play against us so until I see who we start at PF. Assuming everyone on the teams stays at the same level they were last year then yeah the hoyas probably still have the best. But this is all just speculation because we don't know how much other players will improve in the off season.

You beat me to it HoyaLingus, I think it is between us Nova and Marquette. Since our returning backcourt got to the final four last year, and Marquettes returning backcourt lost in the second-round, i think we can go ahead of them.

Marquette has like eight hundred guys in their backcourt.
Nova has Scottie Reynolds.
We now have like seventeen guys back there though...

Marquette has like eight hundred guys in their backcourt. Nova has Scottie Reynolds. We now have like seventeen guys back there though... Scottie Reynolds will be a secondary player to Corey Fisher--Fisher is a real PG and going to be a great player for the Wildcats-which will allow Scottie to play off guard and focus on his shooting (strength) and not his playmaking--which was marginal at best. Fisher, Reynolds--Corey Stokes--very Austin Freeman like in build/game, and Malcolm Grant will be a deep backcourt for Nova. Cuse is also going to be a very deep team in backcourt with Cheddar Bob, Scoop Jardine, Johnny Flynn, Josh Wright, Paul "Lotto" Harris--although he could easily play frontcourt for them, Rautins the mad bomber. Can't forget about Louisville either--Sosa, Smith, McGee, Williams will see some backcourt time with George Goode coming in, and that is going to be a deep and talented team. Pitt's got experience and some talent coming in--that Wannameker kid is underrated. It's the Big East--there will be talent on most teams and challenges for everyone.

I think I'll give the backcourt nod to Nova, but it seems we have the best mix of talent, expierence, and youth. I like that combo very much. Also it will be nice for next year, to have subs for our backcourt, when they are either A) not playing as well as usual (true of sapp at times in the end of the year)or B) have foul trouble( which wallace did get into a few times, though it was never a big problem) Back to the topic of this thread, i think we will end up with the better frontcourt, but in the beginning of the season we are going to have a huge hole to fill, and we will have to work that out. I think Lousiville will get the pre-season nod for best frontcourt along with best Big East team, and i think a lot of people over estimate the loss of Green, much like people underestimated the loss of the three seniors last year. Now i am not saying Green is replaceable in any way shape or form. He was a HUGE lose, our best player, go-to-guy, and the catalyst of the offense. BUT what i think a lot of people who don't follow the Hoyas consistenly saw the lose of Green as the lose of our primary leader. Which we know is not true, and that as JTIII said before the final four, this is not Green or Hibberts team, it is Crawfords. I think next years Hoyas have the most balanced talent on their team next year, mix that with a very balanced offense, and we'll have people saying" Jeff Who?" Especially if we get hot at the right time.

Well put.
I'd vote for a tyler crawford/jonathan wallace ticket.

Roy pretty much automatically gives us the best frontcourt as there is nobody in the league that can come close to hanging with him. The only other team that could potentially come close to our frontcourt is Louisville, and that is only if Derrick Caracter can stay out of trouble and perform the way he should. If (a big if) he does that, however, Louisville will be scary good too.

Hahahahahah @ Cheddar Bob and Lotto I'll give it to Marquette, for now. James [extraordinary ATHLETE] McNeal, and I really like Wesley Mathews game. And not to forget Cubbian...or however you spell his last name.

Caracter has shown more than Macklin but he hasn't actually played more. Vern actually logged more minutes of action last year. Caracter looked good for about a three-week period on a team desperate for post options. Don't get me wrong, Caracter is good but so is Vernon. Add in the aforementioned issues with Caracter's knee, his weight, and his dedication and it will be interesting to see which sophomore is better come Big East time.

Well Marquette is just hurt overall by Dominic James. He didn't impress me at all the times I saw him. He basically just forces shots and ignores wide open teammates

Since our returning backcourt got to the final four last year, and Marquettes returning backcourt lost in the second-round, i think we can go ahead of them. First round actually, and had one of the most embaressing performances of the tournament. Guard play is supposed to be their strength and it is madly inconsistant, and their post game is basically non-existant.

I give a pass to Marquette in the tourney because they played without one of their best players in Jerel McNeal.

You can't really blame Marquette for their inconsitentness last season, i mean, you know how tough bouts with the flu can be.
