HoyaTalk rule 11 begins with these words: "This is not a rumor board."
Twice in the past several weeks, the HT community has been burned by maliciously false rumors relating to the draft status of Roy and Jeff. The first of these rumors sent a goodbye to Roy, who later decided to return home to the Hoyas. The next further toyed with us by prematurely proclaiming the return of Jeff.
Worse than the crime of spreading false rumors was the behavior of the rumor-mongerer, who acted beyond reproach when his sources were called into question. The passage of time shows us that we were absolutely correct to call this rumor-mongerer out, no matter how much of a service he was supposedly doing to the board with his "inside info."
Let these episodes be a lesson to us all. If you have "sources," be damned sure that they're reliable before you bring their information to the board. Additionally, if you post unsubstantiated rumors (and yes, even though your Motorola Q has substantiation in its text message inbox, we'll still treat your rumor as unsubstantiated), be ready to have them scrutinized. No one on the board is interested in bad information, so keep it to yourself.
(Maybe I'm just bitter)

This just shows that the Kenner League coaching network deosn't really have inside access to the program.... something most of us were already aware of.

A question I submit to the community: Are we allowed to call for the resignation of Rule 11 abusers?

I'll take up for Mr. Sixerfan--because he shared info and it was backed up by III in his comments--"time I thought for certain he was gone, time I thought he was coming back...." and that was posted AFTER he shared his info with the board. Kids change their mind all of the time--and he could've had a very reliable source tell him that Jeff was coming back--afterall many NBA teams thought this as well--and our own coach said he wasn't sure what was going on--so I don't think it's worthy of bashing him at all.

While I agree somewhat that it sucks when people say something and get your hopes up and you might as well just say Mr. Sixer instead of being coy about it, I still disagree even though it say so in the rules that this is not a rumor board.
I can probably find posts in every thread ever written on this board that involve rumor. This is a talk board, people talk and say what they think and try to be cool by saying what they think they know. I would rather have that and understand that I am not getting 100% fact then make the board lame with everything everyone writes screened etc.
You should have known what was said was not necessarily true as a prediction from Mr. Sixer had already been wrong. This is a rumor board and i would rather hear interesting rumors than everything having to be fact. Speculation is part of a talk board
Everyone knew that

Whatever mrsixer predicts will happen, presume the opposite will. First, "having never heard of holding a press conference to announce a player returning," he thanks "jeff and roy for the great memories," states they "will be missed," and recommends they "snatch the money before they put it back in their pocket, fellas!!!!!" Then, we hear he's "not going into details, but its a done deal" Green will return. Allegedly "inside info to the highest power." He's so confident, he goes on to state "jeff could still change his mind but I would bet my mortgage that he stays." So I beg you, sixer... please predict the Hoyas to lose in the national championship game in '08!!! EDIT: That said, the info on last month's presser was spot-on.

I agree with RDF and Harbin. Based on the way things have played out with Jeff over the last month, I don't think it's at all a stretch to say that Sixer's info could very well have been true at the time. I think we're all just a little upset it didn't come true.

I don't know why sixer gets a pass from anyone. He posts bad info (well-quoted by BuffaloHoya - I wish I had taken that mortgage wager) from supposedly amazing inside sources. If anyone calls him out, he never admits that he was actually wrong, and instead insults people, calls them liars, etc etc etc...
He and his text messages can take a long walk off a short pier as far as I'm concerned.
