He is now in the class of 07 instead of 08. Gtown needs another big body with Jeff gone. Clark is 6'10 190. He is skinny, but long and athletic. From North Little Rock, AR. UK, IU, and Colorado are recruiting him hard to get him as a 07 signing. He could commit any day, but GU should make a late run at him. The only 4/5s on the roster are ROY, Pat, and Vernon.

I seriously doubt this will happen. And I hope it doesn't as well.

Most HS kids can graduate in Jan an enroll for college in the spring. A lot of football players are doing it. It is less frequent in BB, but it is legal...

and the admissions comittee hits a new low...whatever, as long as he can ball (can he?) I have only viewed highlight film of him. Super athletic type with a nice lefty touch. Not really enough for me to give a full evaluation. Scout and Rivals have him rated pretty high for the 08 class. I want to win, so if he meets admission standards....

DuJuan can slide to the 4 position in some situations also. There's no need to panic. We have a great team returning next season.

Because....it would take away a schollie from the 2008 class III is currently working on. That's why. Wrong, he would count against this years. Jeff leaving is like Edge leaving. Let me try to explain this to you better. Right now...regardless if Jeff returns for his senior year or not...the Hoyas (if they don't give Omar a schollie) have five available scholarships for 2008. Those availabilities, as it stands now, come from Green, Hibbert, Wallace, Crawford and Ewing. 5 dudes who definitely won't be here after next season. Which leaves five scholarships on the table. Three of those scholarship openings have already been filled for 2008 by Jason Clarke, Chris Braswell and Henry Simms. Take away those three and you are now left with two remaining scholarships for the 2008 recruiting class. Considering the number of big time prospects the Hoyas are still going after and are in good position to get, you want to hold om to those remaining schollies. However if we give a scholarship at the last minute to this Clark guy of the '07 class (again REGARDLESS of whether Jeff returns to Gtown or not), then the Hoyas will be down to one remaining open scholarship for the class of 2008. I don't see why the Hoyas would panic and do such a thing as give this guy a scholarship right now just to provide an extra big body. The 2005-2006 team only had Jeff, Roy and the walk-on Amadou to legitimately play the C and PF positions (lets not pretend Bowman had the build to truly play either of those positions). That team, although IMO inferior in talent to Hoyas of next season, went to the sweet 16. Next year's team will have Roy, Ewing, Macklin and Summers (who has the build and played center in high school) to fill in those spots if Jeff chooses to stay in the draft. Unless someone gets injured that should be enough. Now....if Jeff stays in the draft and this Clark guy only has one year of college eligibility then I would be all for his arrival. He wouldn't count against the 2008 cap so to speak. But since he is likely to be eligible for four years I say skip him and hold off the scholarship for 2008.

I'm with you, MCI. Unless this is a player that Thompson would offer even if Jeff were staying (ignoring schollies), I wouldn't offer. There's no reason to panic here. At most, this player gets Vernon minutes from last year -- at most. As you point out, at minimum, we'll have a very talented three man rotation at the PF-C spots and that's even if we never go "small" with DaJuan at the 4.
Then, the next year, will he have an increased role? Sure, Roy and Pat leave and I suppose it would be nice to have another big with experience in the system, but we're bringing in Braswell, Sims and very probably another big. How long does his experience edge hold off these guys?

your points are well made. And since I have not seen enough of the kid, to say if he is better than Sims, Braswell...However, he is good enough for UK, IU, UT to be going after hard. If the GU coaches have evaluated him and feal he can help, then they should go after him and worry about 08' 09 prospects later. A year is a lifetime in college and HS sports.

I say we let him go and keep that scholarship open...considering the likes of Monroe, Dunnigan, Morgan, Goode ect being on the radar.
