I know, I know. Another Jeff Green thread. But check this Andy Katz article out (posted June 15): sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/story?columnist=katz_andy&id=2905111Georgetown coach John Thompson III told ESPN.com on Thursday that he is expecting to meet with Big East Player of the Year Jeff Green on Saturday, after Green talks with his family, to discuss his plans.[...] Jeff Green, Jr., F, Georgetown: Thompson III said he doesn't know which way Green is leaning.
"There was a stretch where I thought he was definitely gone," Thompson III said. "Then, more recently, there was a stretch when I thought he was coming back. I don't think he knows."
Green worked out for Chicago, Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Boston at Georgetown. Sacramento, Minnesota and Charlotte are all waiting to work him out if he stays in the draft.
"He's very methodical, like his coach in that regard, and I think he's going to really think this through," Thompson III said.
It's quite simple for Green: He's likely a Nos. 5-12 pick this year or next. So it comes down to whether he wants to get paid now or in a year, and whether he wants to help lead the Hoyas to a possible national title.

Easy answer (at least for me): Lead the Hoyas to a possible national championship.

I don't know if any die hard fans are left on campus for the summer, but a Red Square banner imploring Jeff to return would be sweet.

I was at a dinner that JTIII spoke at on Wednesday and when asked about Jeff, he very sincerely said that all he knew was that Jeff had a decision to make by Sunday.

The right "call" or the right text message? Ok, ok, ok, I missed the origin of all this "text message" business. What's the deal with all the references to text messages? Prior thread?

No, clearly since JTIII said he needed to MAKE a decision, this means that he needs to change the status quo. Therefore, he must withdraw. No doubt. Thank god this is over. Good choice, Senor Verde. (kidding, of course, but I am knocking on wood, crossing fingers) Am I the only one with the outlook reminder set for Monday at 5 to immediately check here in case no word sooner?

If there isn't a rumor of a press conference posted before then, I would think he is staying in the draft. If there is a decision on Saturday, it could even lead the Sunday sports section in the Post if that is what Jeff and III decide is best. In a perfect world, he decides to come back, there is a press conference announced early monday, the contents of which are leaked around 11, which allows one to do an extended celebratory lunch at the Tombs.

You're not welcome here anymore, Mr. Green!!!
Seriously...
Just want Jeff to be happy with his decision. IMO, I don't think another year will increase his draft stock. It's not like his numbers are going to sky-rocket, or he'll be anymore of a team-player, or anymore of an unselfish player.
But if he enjoys the college life, by all means, stay and have a ball. But if it's a business decision, GET OUTTA HERE, MR. GREEN!!!!

Do you really need a reminder?? More to remind me when its 5 o'clock, not so much to remind me that the deadline is 5 o'clock on Monday, if that makes sense.

Good for Jeff. The league sets a deadline for a reason, and it takes a person of high caliber to throughly deliberate and take the full allowed time to make what is--very much--a major life decision. I applaud his maturity throughout this process, because as much as people would like to say that there's a "right" answer, there ain't -- there's only an answer that's best for the man himself, and only he can give it. I wish I could say that I've been as mature in making some of my own life decisions.
I'll be happy for Jeff no matter what he does because I know that he came to his decision thoughtfully. I know I'd be a little happier if he returned to school, but as many of us have said, if he goes to the Big Time, his new team will have at least one more fan. This is a win-win situation for Jeff, the school, the program, and the fans.
