Memo to Bruce Pearl: No shirt.... No shoes.... No Dice! Assuming he can follow those rules, I'd love to see this series happen. Learn it. Know it. Live it.

The school where you received your undergraduate degree (or are currently attending in pursuit of an undergraduate degree) holds the trump card for any conflict. If you have other reasons for an allegiance (grew up a fan, graduate school, etc.), those allegiances have to be considered secondary to the alma mater. i dont know man...i went to james madison...played a sport there...and i never considered rooting against the team i have been following since i was 8... i even went to the game at jmu 2 years ago...it marked the 3rd i had been in the convo center for a game... growing up in the area and always having season tickets...its kind of hard to throw that away just b/c you went somewhere else... but to each his own...

I don't know WHO i would choose...but probably Georgetown, since I've been a fan the longest....but if we DID play them...it would be easy to get ya'll tickets and let you know places to go since you know, I've lived here and I work for the athletic department haha

in terms of tournament preparation, tennessee is a better series than memphis because tennessee runs flex. i can't think of any bigeast teams that run flex (or any team we played last year), and that showed when we struggled against bc's flex cuts and back screens in the first half of the second round. maryland, tennessee, gonzaga, wisconsin, bc all run a variety of flex so it's a useful offense to have experienced come tournament time. memphis' brick-and-board offense requires little preparation--it only 'works' because they have good players and athletes.

I don't really understand why there should be a conflict. I've been a UCLA fan for more than 45 years (well before I had ever heard of Georgetown), but when the two teams matched up, I had absolutely no problem rooting for the Hoyas, and had my dream game occurred for the NCAA championship this year, the same would have been true. I totally agree with hoyasexy and dudeslade that rooting for your alma mater takes precedence over rooting for your childhood team.
And by the way, up yours, dudeslade. ;D

this is very good news just because it is about time we start playing some of these big time SEC programs to show them how we roll. Somtimes I feel like the SEC is in their own little bubble, same goes for the Big 10 and Big 12. We need to start branching out from the occasional Vanderbilt or Michigan. Wasn't there also supposed to be some upcoming Big East-SEC face-off or something like that?

I totally agree Hoyastrong. I get sick of hearing all winter how good other conferences are; simply because we don't play schools in a lot of them. The big east is formidable, I'd argue its in the top 3 or 4 conferences every year. I have little respect for the SEC and ACC. Vitale and his ESPN boys slurp those conferences because they can put up a lot of points, and usually have very good athletes. I would take the top big east team any year against the top team in those conferences. This year I believe we will be the top team in our conference and hence be able to beat any of those teams.
1 - disclaimer: Florida this year was silly. Yes I believe we could have hung with them and had a chance to win at the end, but nevertheless they were silly this year. Every once in a while you get a freak team that doesn't lose. This argument doesn't include these such occurrences.

Florida last year should be us in 07-08 [if Jeff comes back hopefully] But anyway, the last time we played UT, it was in the NIT, correct?

This would be a marquee home game if we can get it.

So now that the Memphis game is official, does that affect the UT game? And I'm all for playing them both, but I don't know if I want to be going on the road for our 3 biggest games. Somebody should be coming up to play us.

Has the potential UT game been mentioned as a road game yet? I'm all for the big OOC matchups as well but it would be nice to get one or two at home.
