Causey will be perfect in a league where Greg Paulus is considered a star.
It will also give BC fans a chance to resurrect the "Little Bitch" chants of years gone by...

The better question is how is Causey still in school?! Isn't he approaching Krauser territory here?

I don't have any bad feelings about Causey. We don't know what the full facts might have been at the time. Would JWall have been able to join the Hoyas as a "counter" if Causey had decided to stay? I wouldn't want a do-over of what happened in '04 if it meant JWall being unable to join the team. (All those great Alabama farm stories!!! Getting the dangle-horned cow to scare teammates on a visit? Come on, it's been a great bunch of lore for Hoya Hoops.) Generally, there's a four-in-five rule where you have four years of collegiate eligibility spread out over five years. This addresses the preference or necessity of some programs to redshirt freshmen needing more development. More than five years could theoretically get added if there were an injury early enough in a season as to trigger a successful request for a medical redshirt. (Medical redshirts often find the player sitting out a "set" number of games the following season, to make up for what he got to play before the injury. Medical redshirts are very rare if there's already been a freshman redshirt or a transfer-ineligibility redshirt. But they can happen.) Causey entered GU and played in '03-'04. He didn't lose any downtime when he transferred to N. Georgia State since it was not D-1. Two seasons played with them ('04-'05 and '05-'06) and then a transfer to D-1 Georgia Tech where he spent his ONE ineligible year as a transfer student in '06-'07. ramblinwreck.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/causey_matt00.htmlIt's anybody's guess how much he'll prove himself next season. He may have been D-1 caliber after all. Since academics were important to him, he'll have a degree from someplace that's well regarded for science majors, he'll get a last hurrah in D-1, and since he seems to have made a lot of friends at the Hilltop, why begrudge him?

I agree w/you, Lawya. Don't know where the Causey-can't-play-in-the-BE talk started. I thought his desire to transfer was rooted more in a wish to be home. He obviously feels he can play major D-1 ball, or he wouldn't have opted for GT. Nor would they have embraced him if they didn't think he could compete in the ACC. Not every player's game manifests as a freshman. If you work at it you can develop over time. Ask Charles Smith. Or Don Reid. If you thought either would make it to the NBA as freshmen, you shoulda been playing the market. It didn't work out for Causey with us, but I wish him well.

Just curious if there is official word yet on whether Roy or Jeff have hired agents? I have been on vacation for the past 10 days and was nowhere near a computer.
There was talk down here that Taurean Green might remove his name from the draft but that is apparently a totally unsubstantiated rumor which started because he didn't attend an autograph session in Jacksonville with Horford, Noah and Brewer. But his dad said Taurean is 100% certain, and missed the autographs for family matters.
In any case, has there been official word for Hibbert and/or Green yet?

I guess you misunderstood me. My point was that between the declaration date and the final date for withdrawing your name from the draft, the key issue is whether or not the player has hired an agent. If he has, then he cannot return to college ball regardless. If he hasn't and withdraws his name in time, then he can return to college and play. All I was asking was whether Roy or Jeff had hired agents or if there is still some inkling that they might return. As for our '04's, Noah, Horford and Brewer were all at a paid signing event, meaning that they were ineligible to return but there was never much doubt on any of them anyways. There was a question about whether Green might change his mind. When he wasn't at the autograph session, many were conjecturing that he was still waffling, but his dad Sydney Green cleared that up rather emphatically by saying that Taurean was 100% sure of his future and that the only reason he wasn't signing autographs was because of family matters. I hope that clears that part up. Now as to my question: has there been an official announcement about Roy or Jeff hiring an agent? I don't think that is THE tell-tale sign, but it might be a good indication.

i dunno maybe you misunderstood me. I directly said jeff and roy have not hired agents as of now. they have made no announcement of them hiring agents. And i was confused as to why you were considering the possibility of taurean coming back since he hired an agent: www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/10110641 but i guess the event in question must have happened before he hired an agent.
