This is for the unfortunate who can't make it to the banquet and would love all of the details we can get--including any off the record stuff that is buzzing about. Thanks in advance.

I'll be there with my laptop typing away. I just hope Bowman doesn't come back for a speech because I might run out of batteries...

Wow, spamming 3 separate threads -good work (other spam posts #1 , #2). FWIW, I think jacket-and-tie is considered appropriate attire for the banquet, although I may have that wrong.

Kevin Broadus shattered the school record for awkward jokes.
From now on, whenever I think of the UNC Elite 8 game, the theme from Knight Rider will be playing in my head.
Crabcakes made an appearance.
Kurt/007/Hasselhoff got a (well deserved) award for his years of tireless work building school spirit. This consisted of a gigantic framed display that is roughly the size and weight of Kurt himself.
Lots of player awards, someone can fill in the blanks but they run pretty much how you'd expect, including Jeff as MVP and Roy as MOP.
I think Jeremiah Rivers is called "Flower Child".
Othella, Eric Smith, and a fewer other somewhat-famous alums were there.
I wore a slate colored pinstriped suit and a striped tie with two shades of blue (roughly, the 2006-2007 road uniform blue and the vintage Esherick-era "After Dinner Mint" blue). Many people commented on my hair, possibly ironically.
Likely ironically.

So no extention announced, huh?
Anyone at least discuss the extention with people-in-the-know?

It was a night of celebration and thanks. JTIII sounded very eager to get back to work for next season.

To elaborate on the Coach Broadus awkwardness: -Let "blue and gold" slip out at one point -Suggested cryptically that Jeff and Roy will be back next year
Anybody remember any others? I thought he was more or less his usual self. Other Coach B. nicknames include "Spook" for Vern and "Space Jam" for JR.
Just as you should have been able to infer from the tone of the previous two banquets, there would be no talk of people staying or going, of individual contract extensions, etc. I thought it was a stretch when Coach gave out individual awards. As usual, it was a night to celebrate THE TEAM'S PAST SEASON.
Sead gave a pretty short speech. It was especially cool after hearing Coach B.'s impression of him ("COACH! COACH! YOU GOTTA DO THIS!"... something like that).
Izzo's speech was nice, thanking Roy and Jeff for putting up with his "unconventional, physical style of play" in practice.
Coach gave MVP/MOP awards to Jeff and Roy (respectively?) and Most Dedicated and Coach's Award to Tyler and John (respectively). Spoke more highly of the work ethic of this year's (smaller) sophomore class than last year, and seemed to think highly of this year's freshmen's work ethic. He regretted not playing Tyler more, just like last year, and sort of justified it by "having gotten into a rhythm" when Tyler got sick early.

I'm familiar with the phrase "beggars can't be choosers," but really? That's it for recaps?

Lic,
I expect that despite their official titles of "Director of Basketball Operations" and "Video Coordinator" both Henry and Prue do quite a bit of coaching in addition to scouting and other duties and are referred to as "coach" by the players regardless of official title. NCAA rules dictate three assistants, two of which can recruit, so most schools have these other positions who do the work stated, I'm sure, but I also think they are in many ways indistinguishable than the official assistants.
