Maybe I have missed the thread dealing with this, but in looking at the box score for the last 2 games I don't see where he is getting any play. Is he injured, academic casualty, or in JTIII's doghouse?

I posted this a couple of weeks ago and am waiting for answers as well. Maybe he has been slower to adapt to the new system. I hope he & Tyler get a lot of run versus Norfolk & Howard.

Not sure of the answer myself, but I probably wouldn't use the term "doghouse" for a frosh (same with Tyler). I think that with the new system, he's not going to put guys in there until he feels like they've mastered the fundamentals of it and can play within it in game conditions. Sometimes for frosh that means learning from the bench. I do hope we see those guys get lots more run, especially in the SJSU and Howard type games. But I also feel that some of these early games against halfway decent teams (or at least teams from decent conferences) are being used to build confidence and show the guys how good it feels to win, and so the guys out there are the guys showing the most in practice.
I hope the guys sitting redouble their efforts in practice (or at least keep up their already good efforts) and learn how they can thrive in this new system. Over the course of a grueling conference schedule, we're sure going to need more from the bench.

I would imagine that probably in the three days of the Rainbow Classic, and definitely in the Howard and NSU games following it, we'll see an expanded rotation, but at this point, I think Coach probably wants to get in as much work for his starters as he can in the pre-big east season, because as he says, they're all 'freshmen' in his system.

To Saxa's good points, namely that III is trying to win...remember, III is still teaching Ashanti and Brandon and the rest things as well. They need the game time as much as Guibunda to learn, and they need it more because they've shown they are going to be the starters later in the season.

I wouldn't worry much about it, and I wouldn't give up if I were Tyler or Cornelio. JT3 never played his freshmen much at PU but they always get lots of pt as upperclassmen.
He has to play Green- but remember, they are all fundamentally freshmen.
In short, not to worry as yet.

You are correct "doghouse" is too harsh for a frosh. I hope you are also correct on why he, Tyler and Sead are not seeing any time. Wouldn't it be great to have a productive rotation of Green, Hibbert, Guibunda, and Dizdarevic on the frontline in this offense?

Honestly, I'd rather see the pretty-much 7-man rotation that we've seen so far all year (yeah, get the other guys some run against Norfolk, Howard, etc.). Ride your best guys. It's not like we're running and gunning and pressing and trapping and need to rest guys. Play your best. Win with them or lose with them.

JT3 kind of addressed that on his radio half time show last night. I can't go into specifics right now but essentially he said you will see the other players soon.

The limited rotation is the thing I'm most excited about. JUst because you have 14 players doesn't mean you have to play them.
I'd leave it as the starting 5 and then Hibbert and Ross. No one else should play...and yes...I'm looking at you Reed.
Reed brings absolutely nothing to the table. Nothing. He came in last night and committed two dumb quick fouls and missed a wide open 3.

Been a while since I posted, but I thought I would add my two cents to this post. I have no inside information, but I was at the game and I did notice that Guibunda did have his right hand taped. It might be that it was slightly sprained and that facilitated his not being played so far.

Great to see you posting on the board again - welcome back! I look forward to seeing Guibunda get some playing time in the near future, and hopefully any injury he has will heal quickly and JT III will find a way to integrate him into the offense, IF he's ready.
While I do agree that a shorter rotation, if it includes the best/most prepared players, may be ideal for now, and won't begin to second guess JT III, I also think that it is unrealistic to think that there won't be times during the bigeast season, either due to foul trouble, injuries, or just plain match-ups, that we will be able to succeed without some more bench production, from the frontcourt especially.
Otherwise, for those of you out there who don't know Gammo, this guy may not be very active on this new board, but he's a throw-back to the original board, and he may be the single biggest/best Hoya fan I know!
