If sweets had stayed, we wouldn't have been so bad that last year under Escherick, we probably would have made the tourney. He'd probably still be coaching right now. Agree to disagree--vehemently on the "proposed success" Esh would've had with Sweetney returning--he had him with a good enough team around him to make it back to NCAA and he failed. What would've gotten better? Esherick sucked, sucks, and will suck if he ever sets foot on sideline again. He's a curse/dark cloud over things and I'm glad he got canned and we now have III. He who shall not be named has been named/mentioned far too dang often on this site and the man is a curse against the program. Too many great things going on to bring up the failure and rock bottom exploits of the moustached one.

Lol, how do you REALLY feel RDF?
Whether we made the Dance or not is unknowable, but we definitely would have been ALOT better with Sweets. I mean, he was nothing less than the best post player in college.
JT3 is a vastly superior coach to Esh, but I guarantee you Esh wouldn't have made the boneheaded move of not burning a T.O. to get Roy and his three fouls back on the bench with 12+ minutes left in a tied National Semi....
of course, Esh would have forgotten to send in a replacement for Roy, and had to burn a second T.O., but still....

You are right--he who shall not be mentioned would NOT have made that move with Roy in National Semifinal--because he'd be home with rest of us watching whomever was playing Ohio State and making excuses for MISSING THE BIG EAST TOURNAMENT!!! That man was garbage as a coach and was treated as garbage should be--thrown out. Good riddance and this mentioning of his name is enough to make me sick, bring bad karma, and is just a waste of time. I view the day he was canned as a National Holiday and one of the great moments in my sports fan life. It changed Hoya history for the BETTER and to bring up coaching clowns like this is a disgrace with all of the success and positive change that has taken place. He's out there for those who choose to follow him--and enjoy bathroom urinal-speak, the Bonecrusher talking BLEEP, and him losing games in inconceivable fashion--if that is your idea of a guy who could've won with a returning Mike Sweetney after not getting jack BLEEP done with him off a fine JR season and enough talent to return to NCAA--you can re-live that "time in history". I choose to keep him banished and don't have one kind thing to say about the man who almost destroyed Hoya basketball for good.
