Why not discuss Jr. too?
A lot of people I talked to between the BET and the Final Four felt like Pat had played himself into the NBA -- obviously he showed the ability to rebound and play defense, but against Notre Dame especially, he showed that he's got a surprisingly solid offensive skill set.
No, he didn't play well against OSU, but he's got another year to keep rebounding and playing defense and another season to develop those offensive skills. He really does seem to me like a guy that -- drafted or not -- could get like 9-15 minutes a night, score a bucket, grab a few boards, block a shot, and guard anyone from one to four. Not to mention win a slam dunk contest.
Is this being a total homer?

I definately think Pat COULD make it in the NBA, the question is do any of the NBA teams agree with me? He needs to find his outside shot a little more, but if he did play, his agressiveness (something that isn't seen very often in the NBA) could take him far

Upside. Length. Athleticism. Draft combine. Stock. Did I mention upside? I think he just moved up ten spots for the 2008 draft in the last three seconds.
I think it depends on how his next season goes, but I'm thinking it's very possible.

Pat will make the NBA after going undrafted. But he'll make it.

Improve that Ball-handling...work on that outside shot...
I think JTIII's system has definitely helped him out with his all-around game.
He'll be a nice 'Energy Guy' for some team. Just needs to be consistent.
Does he have 'Star' potential?
He's about 3 highlight dunks away...

There's a whole nother year for him. Let's make this call this time 2008. Hopefully a championship run will boost his stock.

On defense and rebounding I think he's got it. And if his offense continues to improve on its current trajectory he will make it. Maybe not drafted (in agreement with SFHoya), though.

No....he never really built on being the style of player he was as a senior in high school. He showed flashes of being that player again when he first got here from Indiana in the Kenner League that summer. Its very hard for role players like Pat to get in the league no matter how athletic he is. He'll be a star overseas however.

At the risk of turning this thread into another thread discussing the future of Jeff and Roy, those decisions are going to be very significant in Pat's development and marketability. If either or both of them go, Pat will likely get a lot more playing time and will be asked to play a much larger role on the offensive end of the floor. If he doesn't start next year, which he clearly won't if Jeff and Roy stay, there is no way he gets drafted. He may still catch on with a team, because I agree that his energy and defense/rebounding will be a useful role for someone out there.

Sorry, not a chance. Bowman is a much better player and is in the D-League. Now if Bowman had the fire and energy of Ewing Jr, he would be an NBA starter.

IMO, Pat is a better NBA prospect than BB. Pat can play a similar role as a Dennis Rodman, but with a perimeter shot. He can be a unique role player. On the other hand, BB is too inconsitent for the NBA (Good/Bad Brandon). His game doesn't have a distinguishing feature. His shot is O.K., but not NBA-caliber.
