Makes sense. Good to see Dajuan, JWall, Sapp, Coach, and the recruits, etc. are getting the proper respect as a solid team even without Jeff and Roy.

even with those assumptions, I think we should be in the top 10..
Wazzou and Tenn are somewhat high, and USC is low IMO - they should be around 4 (even though I despise Mayo)

I wonder where he'd have us without that *key* detail.

(And yes, Ewing can go down low, but he surely doesn't thrive by sitting on the blocks and neither does Summers....then again that IS what the summer is for.....)

These things are a waste. He's assuming the Jeff and Roy and others go, but also assuming that Hansbrough and Conley and others will stay. So, basically the rule is to make up your own assumptions, and then rank teams based on that.
Okay: I'm assuming that Jeff and Roy stay, and that EVERYBODY else leaves every other school.

Doing these things is just stupid until we know who is and isn't coming back to school.
I actually like Winn and I'm sure his editor made him do this piece, but it's just not fair to put something like this out.
Just got back from Atlanta this morning and it was awesome. Cherish the moments and let's hope we get back...

I like the way that he just presumes to know who all is leaving early and who isn't. It wouldn't surprise me if Green, Hibbert, Oden, Durant, Afflalo, Horford, Noah or Brewer left. It also wouldn't shock me if a few of those guys returned. In any case, I would think that Lofton is more likely to leave this year than Taurean Green, yet he doesn't even mention that as a possiblity.

Right, clearly this guy has no idea who's staying or going. He's speculating. It's fun. We'll all do plenty of speculating on various issues as they relate to our hoops team next year. It's really not a big deal.
And as far as his speculation goes, that Green and Hibbert stay in the draft, I think omitting us from the top-10 is correct. With a starting five of Wallace, Sapp, Summers, Ewing and Macklin and Crawford, Rivers, Wright and Freeman coming off the bench we're simply not a top-10 team on paper.

Here is a west coast take: www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_5589910?nclick_check=1This guy has five (!) Big East teams ranked ahead of the Hoyas in 2008: 5. Louisville 7. Marquette 11. WVU 17. SU 22. Pitt SU gets credit at 17 for their "top recruiting class" but the Hoyas' class is ignored. Thorough.

And WVU with a brand new coach at #11?

Read the comments at the bottom of the article. Some really personal and nasty comments aimed at Georgetown and Green and Hibbert in particular.

Why even concern yourself with something that's so clearly off the mark? We know what kind of coach we have, we know what kind of players we have. After the Meadowlands, the country discovered JWall and Sapp can play. Next year they'll discover how good those two and DaJuan really are.

Katz clocks in with the Hoyas at #7 even assuming Jeff leaves (but Roy stays)...now thats more like it sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=28250717. Georgetown 2006-07 Record: 30-7, 13-3 Why: Jeff Green may leave, and if that happens, the Hoyas lose their core. But if Green comes back, to go along with the ever-developing Roy Hibbert, emerging stars Jonathan Wallace and DaJuan Summers, and shooting guards Austin Freeman and Chris Wright, the Hoyas should be right at the top of the Big East.

Gary Parrish from Sportsline.com sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/1010677011. Georgetown My guess: Jeff Green leaves early. My explanation: If we learn in the next month that Green and Roy Hibbert are both returning, the Hoyas should move to the top of all preseason rankings.
