Other things to do in Atlanta
1. Win championships. 2. Find bail money.

MJQ off Ponce de Leon. Fun club but it depends on your appetite. It is literallly underground. For a strange club experience, check out the Claremont Lounge. It is in the basement of a bottom barrel hotel. Sometimes they have really good bands and the juxtaposition of overweight old strippers is priceless. I haven't lived there for almost ten years but those are both staples and near one another. Little five points is interesting for those with wives who want to shop. Some bizarre vintage clothing stores are there and it is just down the road from the carter center. This would be a good Sunday activity. If you go to the Claremont, be sure to ask for Blondie and give her an extra $5 to smash a can of PBR between her bombs. It's well worth it.

Walk around down town after dark. You will meet a lot of interesting people. I would especially suggest the area immediately surrounding the Greyhound station on Peachtree.
In all seriousness, the Centenial Plazz has a bunch of free music/fireworks etc... for the weekend and if you want to take in an act, Jimmie Foxx will be at the Fox Theater on Friday night.
The Varsity is worth a trip if you've never been. It isn't anything unique at all, but they do ordinary stuff very well. Their onion rings are "to die for" as the expression goes.
Also, if you want to venture an hour and a half east-northeast, you could visit the Georgia campus. It is a hilly and picturesque campus with more than one good looking coed.
Florida vs. Georgia in baseball Friday night and Sunday afternoon.

What does Jimmie Foxx do? Hit home runs into the audience?

For shopping, Buckhead is the place to go. Two very nice malls with lots of restaurants. Also, one of my all time favorite record stores, Fantasyland Records, is there - tons of oldies, lots of cheap vinyl.

Sit outside the Georgia Dome. Play "Oh Atlanta" by Little Feat on repeat on boombox.

AVOID BUCKHEAD AFTER DARK, or be highly aware of your surroundings. It has some nice fun bars, but is ridden with crime, especially this weekend. Ask any cab driver. PS Gold Club sucks. Cheetah is the nicer hot spot. A cab over to Pink Pony is also good... if you like a loud southern skin carnival w booze. (I do!)

I always stop by Fat Matt's Rib Shack for some barbeque, beer, and sometimes good blues. Cool joint.
Virginia Highlands has some good bars and is a good Buckhead alternative at night if you want to avoid shootings and whatnot.
I hear Roy Williams will be at the Coke Museum greeting patrons all weekend if anybody is interested......

Last time I was in Atlanta I thought it would be good to stay with my cousin at UGA. Big mistake, I had no idea that Athens was so far from the city and that it was such a bitch to get there and do anything. Hopefully there will a little more to do than in North Carolina (although Prissy Polly's was an experiance) or New Jersey (yeah I know I could have gone into NYC but I was hungover and lazy, I want my fun to be within walking distance)

If you like jazz, check out WCLK, 91.9 FM, the Clark Atlanta University radio station. The music is somewhat light, but definitely better than typical "smooth jazz". The station streams online, www.wclk.com/. The do run a "Community Calendar" type of thing, which lists entertainment, generally music/arts oriented. I believe the website has an Events Page which may prove useful. I have gone to several Black Comedy Clubs in Atlanta, and had a great time. Can't remember the names of any, but I'm sure a little internet research would prove fruitful. The Coke place referenced earlier was actually quite interesting.
