What is the deal with tickets for the final four? How do we get tics from Gtown? Other places selling tics, let me know!

HHC members check your email. Apparently, it is packages only and they are *expensive*. If your donor level is high enough to get you priority, it's probably worth it, but mine would be nosebleeds I'd guess, so I'm going HDTV!

Just bought the package. Cheaper if we share a room so I got 2 doubles. Any Hoya interested in sharing? It would mean a $500 savings for each of us!

Yikes. 4 night minimum?!?!?! Just when I had convinced my wife to let me go for an overnight on Saturday. Kind of a bummer. Was hoping to fly in Saturday morning, catch the game, stay out all night or crash at a hotel and take an early flight Sunday home. Not happening with the packages offered by Anthony Travel, I'll tell you that.

I heard back from the HHC Director by email.
Tickets will only be available through GU by purchasing one of the packages, but seats allocated per usual by donor levels.
The package prices are, IMO, pretty steep.

If you happen to be flying from Chicago, be prepared to spend a shocking amount on plane tickets. I just sucked it up and did it but I'm really surprised how much I just spent.

A cheaper flight option: if you live in a Southwest Airlines city, fly to Birmingham and rent a car. The drive is about 2 hours.

The package prices are, IMO, pretty steep. Very steep. For those of us traveling great distances (ie almost 3,000 miles), this is a tough sell. I've got a free place to stay and the flights are expensive enough -- not being allowed to buy tickets only (I am a HHC member) is a killer. Regardless of your location, the four-night hotel seems a bit excessive. I really hope they open up a la carte ticket sales for HHC members.

Make sure you check out AirTrans - I got refundable Business Class Tickets for less than available coach on AA or Delta.

For what it's worth, the last time the Final Four was in town (2001), it was pretty easy to scalp tickets for not an unreasonable amount over face. I expect there will be greater demand for these games, though, as Atlanta is overrun with Gators, and because the matchups are so compelling.

I have somewhere 3 hours away to stay for free - just need tickets - and my schedule is too tight to try to make it unfortunately.

This is my understanding of the ticket situation based on some in depth conversations tonight.
Georgetown gets 2500 tickets and is forced to take 500 hotel rooms from the NCAA. Georgetown will start selling tickets only once the hotel rooms are gone. If you estimate that there will be an average 2 and one half tickets per room then the hotel tickets will total about 1250. Estimate 200 for the university, players families etc. Maybe 350 for students. That would leave approximately 700 tickets for hoop club members, based on donor priority, with many of the highest level donors having opted to buy the package.

Thanks for the Info.... the Package is simply outrageously priced...even if it is the NCAA doing...
For 3k, you can get great seats on Stubhub - the official site of the Hoyas... and you don't have to be a Hoop Club member...
Appreciate the explanation

Here's the problem--while I like the message board, this shouldn't really be the place to get better info than from Georgetown. The e-mail made no statement about what you do if you are not traveling from DC and do not need lodging. What do alumni in Atlanta do, for example? Pay $1,000 to drive down I-85?
And are packages assigned by giving level? Again, it's unclear.
Let's hope the HHC can straighten this out directly.
OK, I've got to get some sleep. There's plenty of news links that await me at 5:00 am.

Welcome the the Final 4. This is the way the NCAA did it back in the 80's. HHC really doesn't have a choice in the matter. They always hit you up for a four night hotel stay stay even though New Orleans & Lexington were easy flights from DC. All things considered about $250 a night is not a bad price for a good hotel in a major city, with a major event going on. If you are sitting on the fence go ahead and spend the $$$. Its well worth it and who knows when this will ever happen again.

Let me just say about these upper level tickets that I recently saw a Falcons game at the Dome last December and I sat at the top of the upper level. I had trouble seeing most of the football game, it is wayyyyy up there. I would not bother with the distant view tickets, I really don't know how you could have any clue as to what was happening from those seats. I would go for lower or club level or not at all. Just a suggestion.

Tickets to the Tombs are $7. For that price, you get a cold pitcher of the finest, golden Busch Light and the greatest gamewatching atmosphere this side of East Rutherford.
