Interesting that we are playing OSU again but with a completely different squad. I can't wait.

Has there been a better 7-footer showdown since Ewing/Sampson?

Oden is underrated. Way underrated.
Oden doesn't get nearly enough press. More people should be talking about what a great player Oden is. He's the next Bill Russell.
Roy will foul out in the first half. Oden will dominate him.

Actually, Ron Lewis has probably been their best player through the tournament. Oden gets a lot of press, obviously--but he does seem to get a little frustrated when matched with guys his size. He and Roy could/should have a great battle, but containing Conley/Lewis may be even more important to the outcome of this game.

Has there been a better 7-footer showdown since Ewing/Sampson? Yes. Ewing - Olajuwon

my feeling about this game is good. the last game i was really worried about, against unc, but this not so much. OSU isnt nearly as deep, and not nearly as fast, and other then oden (who really doesnt put up a lot of points, just lots of rebounds and makes his presence felt), who is there other main guys?
you guys mentioned em, ive never heard of em.
my overall feeling is a LOT better about this game..
lets go hoyas!

Oden shows sign of getting easily frustrated - witness his push at the end of the Xavier game. And he's been prone to foul trouble in the tournament. If we just run our stuff on offense, we should be in good shape.

I've waited all year for this matchup.

I've waited all year for this matchup. It’s funny, but to me Oden is more like a throwback Hoya center than Roy, i.e. an athletic, defensive force and rebounding terror. They both are no doubt looking forward to the challenge that each presents. This matchup brings to mind the Ewing-Sampson (sophomore-senior) tilt. Talented though he may be, here’s hoping the junior (Roy) can teach the freshman (Oden) a few thangs.

How has Oden done against legit centers this year? The media has been slurping him from day 0, but I don't remember specifics from games he (theoretically) played against people who actually match up against him.

What I've noticed about Oden is that he isn't much of a post defender as he is a shot blocker. Watch him in the lane just waiting for a player to drive in so he will be in position to block him. If we can pass into the zone and get the ball to Roy, moving around Oden will be similar to moving around Thabeet.

osu plays zone almost exclusively with oden just hanging out in the lane waiting to block shots.
here's where i think the hoyas have a major advantage: a good portion of osu's offense is predicated on the osu guards allowing penetration with oden in the lane to block and initiate a fast break. the hoyas won't fall into this trap as the offense isn't based on guard penetration.
