A Duke fan in my office sent me this article today. It was published yesterday. The arguments are laughable. Make sure you read the "What went wrong?" section with this gem: "Maryland, the hottest team in the ACC at the end of the regular season, got paired up with a cerebral opponent in Butler that prevented the athletic Terrapins from taking advantage of their strength by forcing to play an unfamiliar style." It gets better. Here is the link: www.fayobserver.com/article?id=257874

Umm, if Duke and UVA were "grossly overseeded", shouldn't that have helped them win an additional game or two?
Ridiculous homer article.

I hope to be sending this guy an email on Sunday...wouldn't that be sweet.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's pound on the SEC tonight.

That was a weak "argument" if you can call it that.

Yes - and he acts like BC has no fault in the suspension. Guess what - if you have a culture where shenanigans are overly tolerated, as is the case at BC historically to some extent going back to the football betting scandal - kids are going to get suspended. If you want to take credit, you have to take responsibility/blame for your whole program. That's part of the deal. Don't say other conferences aren't as good as you just because your kids are getting suspended. Your responsible for your recruiting and for your kids behavoir.

With two more wins — including one against those neo-Western powers, Southern Cal on Friday — they’ll be in the Final Four.
From there, they could easily go on to win the national championship.
apparently the ELITE 8 (no matter who they play) is a walk in the park

I nominate this article for the pantheon of stupid articles.
Even if UNC wins the championship (which they won't), that doesn't mean the conference was the strongest. What they had was a bunch of good but not great teams, who crashed and burned in the most important test.

Great comedy. The article reads as if you gave the dork in your office who finished last in the NCAA pool the space to rationalize his discredited picks.
I too particularly enjoyed the reasoning that had UNC "easily" winning the national championship after winning the East final.
Two years at business school at Virginia turned me into an ACC critic. The arrogance at those schools, the sense of entitlement is stifling.

There are some arguements for the ACC being the best conference. None of them are in this article.

Well there is a case that the ACC is a regular conferance, I wonder what they think now. First we take out BC, now UNC. And the ACC has none. ha ha ha ha

Heard the writer is a grad of the J school at SC.
Apparently the whole sports staff at that paper has been nothing but ACC apologists the past few years from what I hear.
