Good find, grandpa. Now let the Esh bashing be put to a rest for good. We all have to move on.

Good find, grandpa. Now let the Esh bashing be put to a rest for good. We all have to move on. Umm, no. He's a great fan, but a bad coach. I think we can all support his new fan role though. Addition: Perhaps this article has embedded in it the answer to the mystery of Feinstein's disappearing memory. Feinstein continuously states that GU didn't make the BE Tourney in 2004. The article points out, however, that the Hoyas failed to live up to their usual excellence by not reaching the BET quarterfinals for the first time that year. Perhaps somewhere in the sick, twisted mind of Feinstein this information got muddled, and now he is just plain confused. The alternate explanation is that the man is composed of pure concentrated evil, maybe mixed with bits of poo.

In all honesty, Esh threads create more poster on poster violence than attacks on Esherick. Although this may not be the case with MCI, many of the Esh threads in recent memory were started and/or furthered by more pro-Esh folks, revisionists, and the like. Thread themes along the lines of "Hope Esh Attends Gala," "Esh Should Be Courtside for Former Player Intros," etc. just beg for "negative" responses considering we know how he is a lightning rod already on this board. I'd put this thread in the same category, fairly or unfairly.
At this stage in the game, I view Esh as irrelevant. He has moved on, and our program has done the same. Why can't the fans move on instead of reviving Barbaro here?

Do you really think this is going to put things to rest? If anything, this opens the door for a bunch of threads within a thread: a stupid message from Ed Stimes**; trying to annoy YB about the true purpose of his rally (at this point he should just take credit for having a fire-Esh rally), which will hopefully devolve into making fun of where YB lives and his dancing (I have nothing against the little guy, but I enjoy immensely when he gets upset); jokes about III's offense being different than Esh's offense, namely III's not running the fist play; and someone being called an Esherick apologist. Then some general Esh bashing with a sprinkle of "he's an alum, leave him alone."
That should cover most of Thurs...

What a nice article and a nice attitude he has about all of that. I think Esherick knows that the way things are is the way they are, and that neither Roy nor Jeff would as developed individually at this point as they are now had he stayed on as coach. We dog him a lot, but for all of the credit we do give him for recruiting those players, one things that I think goes overlooked because of their outstanding play is that they have all been extremely coachable and classy since day 1.

Esh has moved on so have we. I hope one day he feels comfortable in the stands at a Georgetown game - all Hoyas (especially double Hoyas) should feel welcome at a game.

as someone who was pleased with the dismissal of craig esherick, i think these comments show that he is a gentleman and is someone who should be respected in terms of his recruiting contributions to what has become a succesful team. I think that esherick often gets blamed for the shortcomings of certain players who did not live up to their potential and should not necessarily be seen as a bad all around coach, just someone who did not have the ability to command the respect and get the most out of his players that jt3 does. We had some really good players in Demetrius hunter, lee scruggs and mike sweetney who given a bounce of the ball or a made shot here or there could have changed the perception of esherick and probably saved his job. In particular two plays come to mind, first a missed wide open dunk by hunter inthe sweet 16 against maryland that led to a quick score by them and changed the momentum of the game in the seconds before halftime in anaheim and also the missed shot by gerald riley in the nit final that really should have been a play for sweetney which I think is what was called for by esherick but that got messed up in the moment. Ultimately, esherick can only blame himself though cause without his im going to be here forever comments shortly before his firing i think he might have still been here. As a fan though, maybe you can give him credit for putting the nail in his own coffin as we have reaped the benefit of the coaching change. I for one would definitely root for esherick if he got a position at another school and definitely think he would do a lot for his own ego and for his legacy by trying to coach again. Would definitely love to see him go to another school and try and exorcise some of the demons from his time at gtown

Also, I forgot to point out above that Esherick has the best finger-point-move perhaps in the history of the world. Not one of you can debate that.

They edited out the other parts of his comments:
"I will pay the way TO WASHINGTON, DC of any alumnus. And have them sit down and coach a Georgetown game ... Just because someone's been at Georgetown forever doesn't mean it doesn't hurt when he gets fired ... See how his brother like it, see how his ego likes it"

Give them this, it's certainly a different angle on Georgetown basketball than the JTIII/PEJr. glut we've been seeing lately...

Speaking of moving on...
Do you think he no longer wants to coach or do you think coaching no longer wants him? You'd think the former...some DII school would probably want to take a chance on him at sone point for his recruiting ability, even if they did see some of his game plans.

Normally I wouldn't join the bashers on this one, but he did say this:
"...but when you are fired from a job, it’s time to move on."
Something like 9 years of GU education to figure that out?
ps: if you trolls think Camille and Barker read this stuff, who wants to lay odds on Esh dropping by?

man, it really seems like a lifetime ago that we were all so upset with whatzisface.
I liked his comments - that Greg Mesherak is a real class act and will always be remembered fondly.

Thanks Grandpa - I think Esh was pretty reasonable. Can't be that fun to be interviewed by a national publication with a good portion of it about your having gotten fired.

With no Esh there is no JT 3 imo. He did what he did and remember he was a co-pilot on a great ride in the 80's. There should be nothing but love for a true Hoya soldier PERIOD.
