From the Newark Star Ledger:
"The hot name to take over for Scott will be Sydney Johnson, the former Princeton point guard who led the Tigers to their monumental NCAA win over UCLA in 1996 as the team captain and helped them back to the NCAA Tournament the following season.
Johnson is currently an assistant coach to former Princeton coach John Thompson III at Georgetown, which is playing in the NCAA's Sweet 16 Friday night against Vanderbilt at the Continental Airlines Arena.
Johnson has been rumored to be interested in the vacant Harvard post, which opened when long-time coach Frank Sullivan was fired earlier this month. "
I hear Chris Mooney from Richmond is going to get it. But this makes sense. Double edged- sword. Nice that our assistants are in demand, but you get spoiled by such a great staff, you selfishly want them to stay.

Left for Denver. Probably a mutual separation the way that went but who knows.

Coach (Pops) mentioned on his radio show that Sydney is, indeed, Princeton's #1 choice to replace Scott. He said that while his son would obviously be sad to see an assistant go (if he gets the offer), he would be excited for Sydney & his opportunity to be a Head Coach.

I'm going to guess that reading between the lines this means that we may be saying Sydney Johnson's last few games as an assistant coach at Georgetown.

He can interview on the way up to the Meadowlands this week...works out well. I hope he gets the gig. Always good for the JTIII family tree.
Scott was the coach at Air Force beforehand and the Denver job is out in that same area. May have made sense in terms of his recruiting area and maybe family issues. Who knows. Or it was just convenient timing etc.
