Both come in as juniors. Both play with tremendous hustle and determination. Not always big scorers but find ways to make an impact on the game.

I think PE Jr has more range on the J and JYD boarded a bit better but the comparison is very, very good.

Agree. Jr definitely has a better shot but the intangibles between the two are very similar.

Jerome : better ball handling skills, better rebounding.
Patrick Ewing Jr. : more athleticism, better range, better shot blocker, more upside.

the more i see him, the more i think he just might make the league. lately he has really shown a multidimensional game and the sparkplug effect he has on a game is particularly impressive.

Has any player in the Big East improved more over the past 2.5 months than PE Jr.? It is simply astounding the importance of his role on this team when compared to his minutes/role early in the year.

Agreed - he has truly become the Hoyas 6th man and he comes through when needed - I feel as though he does things for this team that may not be as evident in the box score as other players but are truly felt on the court/by his teammates.

What other 6th man can come in and give you some offense from beyond the arc; attacking the rim and the OAF-fensive glass, and hitting pull-up jumpers and ones from the high-post and elbow vs. the zone; have the passing ability Jr. has displayed; PLUS be able to be a solid defender up top, away from the ball, AND even in the post when we go smaller (i.e. minus ROY). THE KID IS AMAZING!! And he is STILL the teams BEST CHEERLEADER. He gives SO much more than anyone off the bench than I can remember in a HOYA uniform in a LONG time. The HOYAS a FORTUNATE Jr. made the RIGHT decision to end up at the Hilltop where he ALWAYS belonged.

One intangible that he brings to the table is mental toughness which gives the team a whole new dimension. He also has ability to come up with momentum changing plays (both on offense and defense) at critical moments. PEJr. also = JYD = Michael Graham.

Love PE Jr. and everything he brings to the team!
I remember last year JT III said something about how he had literally won games for them even though he wasn't in the game. At the time I thought it was a stange comment, but now I understand. This guy has heart, hustle, energy, and really does elevate the team's game (even more so now that he is on the court!)

He has the most incredible timing on the offensive glass - I can't recall the last time I saw someone in college as consistent as he is on amazing timing of being in the air near the rim ready for a tip in or monster dunk. doesn't matter if he's out at the arc, he can get in there and time it so he's ready.
also his 3 has really come along, he passes well and has post-up moves. i guess he could be an nba back-up. it's funny, he's gone from being a player who might not really make it at the college level to us thinking he could be in the league. I guess that would me most improved player material.

i think pat can develop into an NBA player....anyone else share that sentiment??? Some writer from a non-local newspaper wrote that Ewing was a likley pro. It was just one guy's opinion but it was he second or third time I read something this year by a journalist about Ewing playing in the NBA. Right now the thing that may be holding Ewing back the most is emotional control and time on the court. But he has all the tools.

I don't think it is as much as improvement as it is getting his legs back and getting comfortable after a year off. What he is doing now is not much different than what I and others reported him doing during the '05 Kenner Summer League. His '06 KL performance was not nearly as good and perhaps that was because that was following the season in which he sat out and could not suit up and play. Now he is rounding back into form. The athleticism, the energy, the three-point shooting, the passing, etc are all facets he displayed in fine fashion back in the summer of 2005. Sure there has been improvement overall as the season has progressed but that is the case with most players on the GU team. But there is nothing Ewing is showing now that we did not see when he made such a fantatsic impression when he suited up for the Tombs two years ago.

Tremendous improvement no doubt about it. I hope in the off-season he works on his inside post-up game. If that develops he will start next year. GO HOYAS!!!!!!!!!!
