I know that you should have to beat any team when called upon to do so in order to win the NCAA, but I doubt if you can find a number 2 or 1 seed with as many teams that they have already played as the Hoyas. The Hoyas have in their half of the Eastern regional, Vanderbilt, George Washington, Oral Roberts, and Boston College. What are the odds of that? I think we all have salivated on the idea of teams that had never seen the Hoyas before trying to stop the Princeton offense in this tournament. It seems the committee went out of its way to try to give the competition a fighting chance against the mighty Hoyas. Just like the old days. The fear is back. Also in the top half is Louisville.

Well when you play a schedule loaded with NCAA teams, you're bound to have at least the possibility of seeing some of them again down the road.

Also, Boston College has never played the Princeton offense, and I doubt the other Big East coaches will be tripping over themselves trying to help the Eagles

Uh, when was the last time we played George Washington?? I think the Hoyas have a very good chance of cruising into the sweet sixteen and not being in Florida's or or Kansas' Region is a plus. Neither BC nor Texas Tech are a very scary matchup. Would be great to thrash the traitors from the ACC. Texas Tech is very fortunate to have even made the tournament. I think you are the one with a little paranoia.

Boston College played GU two years ago, and practically shut out the Hoyas up at BC in the first half. It was early in JT III's tenure, but GU was on a nice little run - they had beaten Pitt, Villanova, ND, and given UConn and Syracuse all they could handle using the Princeton approach - it was like wham-o, lock down defense.
BC isn't as strong as they were two years ago, and this GU team is much better, but I think Al Skinner isn't going to need alot of help deciding what he wants to do should they play Georgetown.

Our offense didn't really work for a long period of time. I'm pretty confident that this year's team will do a better job of executing if we face them.

I know and appreciate the upgrade in the schedule, if that was the meaning of your post, but no other 2 or 1 seed has this type of familiar faces in their bracket. Being an old Hoya fan I remember watching the Hoya placement in brackets back in the eighties, and it always seemed as though their bracket contained the most athletic teams that could run and play against a defense like the Hoyas. While the Dukes, N. Carolinas etc. got the slow plodding teams. As I said Hoya Paranoia is back so Roy watch your reaching cheap fouls!

We played Vandy and Oral Roberts this year. Wisconsin played Purdue and Winthrop. I really don't think there is any design on behalf of the commitee to have certain teams play certain opponents that they've played or haven't played. RockawayHoya had it right: when you've played this many tourney teams, you're bound to see repeat opponents in your bracket. We could have been in any region and seen two of our previous opponents.
As for Hoya Paranoia...I love our bracket and think we should be thankful for it.

Yeah, I paid for that BC game on online Full Court. Can't believe I paid for that crap with the NESN announcers including Dana Barros.

Actually the meaning of my original post was sarcasm, as I hoped the smiley-face would indicate. But I agree totally with your point. I was shocked to see Vandy AND Oral Roberts not only in our region, but in our half of the region. I'm not certain we'll see either team at any point, however. As overrated as Wazzu is, I don't think they'll be threatened by either of our former opponents.

The BC players who are seniors now also came down here to MCI/Verizon I believe (maybe their freshman year). I remember thinking Dudley and Marshall were good then. Would much rather play Texas Tech I think.
