I absolutely love this:
“I’m a four-year player,” Hibbert said Saturday night, and it was easy to forget that someone legitimately asking him about his NBA Draft intentions would’ve once sounded like pure foolery three years ago. But Hibbert has a vision, a vision laid out by Ewing, Mourning and Mutombo, and if Georgetown was good enough for them, it’s good enough for him.

Great article minus one erroneous detail--Roy could ALWAYS SHOOT THE BALL--he wasn't known as "Sha-Dirk" for nothing at G-Town Prep. The kid had fine offensive skills you can't teach--and as many on this site who defended his recruitment pointed out--you get people to lose weight, gain strength, etc... but you cannot teach the skills Roy possessed as a young big and that is why he was worth the "gamble".

During the media day at Gtown just before his frosh season began, cameras caught Roy doing dribble moves between his legs. Effortlessly. People were wowed over his back-to-back behind the back dribble move and pass during a fast break in last summer's Kenner League. I think most people around the country just don't realize how skiled he is and most would not believe he had a whole lot of those skills coming into college.
His potential is amazingly high. He has the post moves, the spin moves, the reverse dribbles, the hook shots with both hands, the up and unders, the dribble power moves to the basket, the kisses off the glass. He has great hands and a soft touch. He's not a liability at the free throw line ala an Aaron Gray. He's now beginning to dunk more with ease and even doing so with one hand. His fg% is sick. He can put the ball on the floor and drive to the hoop.
He also can hit jumpers all day but he refuses to take looks from more than 8 feet away. He has take about five or so jumpers from 15 feet or more this season and I think has made all but one. I wish he would rely on his faceup game a bit more because I think he could be deadly there in three different ways: 1)shooting the ball 2)passing the ball and 3)making the dribble drive. He has a baseline jumper that he never takes in real games and a turnaround jumper that he can shoot over any defender...but rarely takes in real games. I'm not sure if its just him lacking aggression or him being a bit overly worried about playing within the system.
To my surprise he's also getting a whole lot better at blocking shots...though it will never be a true strength of his.
People dismiss him because of his lack of athleticism and foot speed but at 7'2 he has enough skills to overcome much of those negatives.

Absolutely right, MCI. Roy's progression at Georgetown has not been as much in skills (though he has added things to his arsenal, like low post moves and hook shots) but in improved athleticism. He's faster, quicker and jumps higher than as a freshmen. And it's noticeable.
