JTIII will be on Mike and Mike in 5 minutes. If you are in DC, you can listen on 730 AM and if you are near a TV, you can watch on ESPN2

At around 8:05 Greenberg and Golic were talking about ND/G-Town and of course Golic was joking about ND winning.
Then Greenberg launched into his "I went to the game yesterday and the Hoyas were awesome routine". He said he was going to pick the Hoyas to win the NCAAs and then they chatted about JTIII coming on later.
Great stuff and nice for the Hoyas!

The interview was really entertaining, and III was very funny. III was also humble as usual, discussing how well ND plays, and how GU is perhaps not as good as we played them the first time, and they aren't as bad.
Apparently Greeny almost "ran over" III outside the Garden yesterday as he was driving by the team bus. In reality, he pulled up to say "good game" to III, but coach kept referring to how Greeny tried to run him over.

Heard this on the way into work today. Funny stuff. Not really anything new, but it's refreshing to hear the thoughts of a focused, humble coach.

I liked the discussion of the Lenten-designation of foods that might be sweets.

I liked the discussion of the Lenten-designation of foods that might be sweets. This has been a running joke since Ash Wednesday.

I laughed out loud when he asked about syrup on his pancakes. I don't think the syrup is the problem -- it's the pancakes.
Golic pointed out that Greeny is the kiss of death and often curses teams by picking them. He pointed out Greeny's love for Iowa St. in 2001 and how after proclaiming them his "pick to win it all" were summarly bounced by Hampton.
Of course, it was strange that nobody picked up that the Iowa St. collapse allowed the Hoyas to meet Hampton in the Round of 32 and advance to the Sweet 16.

I was watching on ESPN2 and I could tell that Greeny was genuinely impressed that JTIII had recongized him as the guy who called out "Nice game coach" while driving past the team bus. I think the smile he had showed a combination of pride that he was recognized and embarassment that listeners now knew that had opened his window and yelled encouragement to a coach. Overall, a very good segment.

that Lent thing has been bemusing.
I was listening to them the day after Ash Wednesday as Golic proclaimed that he abstained from sweets on Sundays despite the fact that (as Greenberg pointed out to him )Sundays aren't a part of Lent.
He then went on to describe his Ash Wednesday supper as including a chicken patty. I wondered if someone ever told him that Ash Wednesday is a day of abstinence from meat.
