Thought you all might be interested:
First up is my question:
Duke's Cousin (Washington, DC): If the Hoyas continue their Big East dominance (despite a minor slip at Syracuse) and win through the BET, do they take home a number one seed in the Big Dance? Does anyone from the Big East have a chance at a one seed?
Pat Forde: (1:49 PM ET ) Cuz: GTown is the only Big East team with a shot at a 1, and I'd say it's still a long shot. They'd need some help.
Joel, Miami: Which are the other 7 teams that can win it all beside Kansas?
Pat Forde: (1:13 PM ET ) Joel: As of right now I'd say Florida, UCLA, Carolina, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Georgetown and Memphis. However, I reserve the right to rewrite that list come Sunday night. Last year I had Florida on my list of eight potential champs after watching the Gators in the SEC tourney -- but probably not before.

I'm glad Pat Forde thinks we can win it all.
This changes everything.
Casually.

Am I the only one surprised to see Memphis on that list? Kind of dampens my excitement to see GU there.

Not that basketball commentators would learn anything if we beat Memphis by 80 points, but if we pull a 3 or a 2 seed, I would like to see them as a 3 or a 2 in the same region and I'd be happy about playing them.

Memphis is on there because we have no idea how good they are. They don't deserve a good seed because they are 1-3 against the RPI top 50. That doesn't mean they can't make a finals run. They haven't played a decent team since December, so they could be terrible, or they could be awesome.

I don't see why everyone is mad that Memphis keeps making the list of top teams. Memphis usually runs a strong program. Are they good enough to win it all? Probably not but I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Final 4.
I mean didn't they make the Elite 8 last year?

I mean didn't they make the Elite 8 last year? last year they had Carney, Washington, Shawne Williams -- some star power and they played a few stronger teams throughout the year (Gonzaga was much better, etc.) They do run a strong program, but overall they aren't as good as they have been IMO, and they have played nobody... I would be surprised if they get past the sweet 16 this year

Fair point Colorado. We don't know what they can do. I just see them scraping by their last few games and sort of wonder if they can hang with the other potential No. 2 - 3 seeds in the bracket. Shall be interesting.
