Crazy week, but I'm glad we didn't get penalized for the cuse game.
I like being a top 10 team for the last poll of the regular season. It would have been great if we could have gotten to #8 to match our pre-seaon hype.

I'm done questioning Memphis. I just hope the committee seeds them properly...or at least puts them with us in the same bracket.
I'm surprised Nevada didn't drop further after the loss. That team is a fraud too.
I still think MD is too low here...I still hate them, but I think they are too low.

unless we win the BET, i think it will come down to gu v. memphis for the last 2 seed. unless one of the other guys flames out in the first round of their tournament (i.e. Wisconsin), i just don't see us leapfroggin anyone. our rpi is very respectable, but not Top 10 - so i think we get a #3 unless we take the BET title.

That would be great. If that's the case the theory is G-Town and Memphis would be the 2/3 in the same bracket. Wonderful.
I would KILL to play them. I would pay money to watch Calipari squirm and whine for 40 minutes as we take apart his undisciplined team.
They can't play defense for more than 10 seconds. We'd just wear them down and they'd start jacking 3's left and right all game in frustration.
As you can see I've been thinking about this potential match-up.

Big East with 5 of the top 20! In a "Down year" for the conference.

I dont get why you guys are so up in arms about Memphis, them being a # 5 is nowhere near the disgrace of Nevada being a # 10. But it doesnt even matter at this point, these are the most useless rankings with all the guaranteed big games coming up in conf. tourneys.
And great point Sir Saxa, what a "bad year" our conference had! 8 teams being considered for rankings and 5 of them actually being ranked.

I'm sorry, but if you want to actually rank teams based on how well they're playing right now, this should be your top ten:
1. Kansas 2. Ohio State 3. UCLA 4. Georgetown 5. Texas A&M 6. North Carolina 7. Florida 8. Maryland 9. Memphis 10. Wisconsin

i still disagree about memphis BD. They're not very impressive that 64-61 win over SMU just screams 9th best team in the nation.

Can we change the name of this thread? It's the fifth, not the seventh.
Perhaps it can be: Coaches Poll 3/5

Why is Duke ranked above UVa., Va. Tech and ranked one below Maryland?
didn't they lose twice this week?

Florida lost a couple of tough road games against desperate teams...sounds a little like G-Town at Cuse huh?
Florida is fine. It's VERY hard to repeat and I don't think they will, but they beat KY pretty good at home to "get well".
Teams lose in the last week or two. It's a tough conference grind. If we got stuck playing at Marquette or WV or someone like that down the stretch it would have been tough.
Florida is one of the Top 8 teams.
Just like the Hoyas. Anyone it that range can win the whole thing.

Big East with 5 of the top 20! In a "Down year" for the conference. I guess the BE sucks... ACC with one in the top 19.

Seems like the inertia of being a top-ten team (coaches take a long time to bump a team up through the rankings and often a long time to send them down the rankings too), coupled with the fact that our loss was on a Monday (hard to remember things that happened a whole week ago!!) worked in our favor.
