Ya, Jon Wallace didn't lead all scorers against Pittsburgh.
Nope, Jessie Sapp didn't provide emotional lift after emotional lift against Villanova.
Get off the bandwagon - you are suffocating real hoyas.

We desperately need these guys as soon as they can get here! so if they were here now as freshmen, instead of 6 loses to quality opponents, we would have how many?

I was going to post this morning how happy I was with our guard play, and how I thought Austin and Chris had an uphill battle trying to win a starting position. At the beginning of the season, I thought J.Wall was good, but he's turned into a pretty solid player. J.Sapp I thought was less than adequate, though lately he's really turned it up. Except for tonight, I've been pretty happy with those two. But I think tonight proved that we need a couple of back ups like Austin and Chris, who can push Wally and Sapp and take over should those two falter. It would have been nice to have seen Austin and Chris walk in and ease our shooting woes.

The guards were certainly not the only problem tonight, and I still have high hopes for this season, but it is worth noting that both GU and Cuse have 2 McD AA's coming in next year and the rivalry is clearly alive and well. I look forward to watching Austin and Chris torture those punks in Orange for years to come. I really hate losing to these guys.

the healthy rivalry and mutual respect between these two have continues to amaze me, this is definitely rare with so much ego in the world of sports (esp. the fact that they are going to the same college).. it is so great that these kids are going to be Hoyas together

Get off the bandwagon - you are suffocating real hoyas. Excuse me. high and mighty, I have been a Hoya fan for 27 seasons, so please do not talk to me about a "bandwagon". How long have you been on board? And I have searched my initial post to find where I asseerted that Wright and Freeman would be starting if they were here, since apparently that is what everyone assumes that I meant. JW and Jesse have had some great games, and very solid seasons - but when they have an off night, like last night, we have no depth at the guard spot to pick up the slack, and no shooters to break open a zone (I know JRiv hit a nice 3 last night, but we certainly can't expect a barrage from him at this point).

Frazier, sorry about the accusation last night. Its not normally my style to call out people for being bad fans or whatever. However, you did say: We desperately need these guys as soon as they can get here! At least for me, the root word "desperate" has a dramatic connotation. As in, we are desperately in need of water because we have been funning in the Sudanese desert with janjaweed militia chasing us down. Or, I am desperately trying to go back to school because I am lazy and ill-suited for the working world, and would rather read and write all day. (ok, thats a reach) Are we desperately in need of more guards, meaning we won't win another game with Jon, Jessie, and Rivers? Or would it be nice to supplement our guards corps and our NBA-bound frontcourt with a few highly-touted recruits? I'm sorry for my reaction, but your post made it seem like we could not go on as is.

Anyone know if there are any highlights from these two games? I especially wanna see when "Wright scored on a dazzling series of moves that included a pull-up three-pointer, a reverse layup and plenty of drives in transition."

Nick - my thought was that if we want to go far in the NCAA's - with people talking about #! seeds, final four, etc. - I think we would need more at guard than we have. I know that is all that we are going to have, but we know we are not going to get 5 or 6 straight strong games from both of our guards, and we could "desperately" use the depth and weapons CW and AF could give. I'm not predicting gloom and doom without them, just very concerned after what we saw last night - one game like that in March and it could all end abruptly and prematurely.

Dcsportsfan.com has links to highlight videos from both semi-final games.

Just had a little piece out here on Austin after the Duke-UNC game. Kept saying he committed to GU.
