Yeh, I gotta go with Giga on this one. I see what you are saying KHoya, but I think the RPI's value to the committee is more about how you have performed against the top 50 teams - and in that regard Memphis is 1-2. (Seth Davis makes that point all the time, and it's one thing I agree with about). After all, Gtown was #35 in the RPI last year, but we played 12 games against the RPI top 50, winning 5.
I could see Memphis as a #4 or #5. We'll see.

this is totally just a hypothesis but the cynic in me feels like that the NCAA wouldn't purposefully deflate / devastate Conference-USA when it has no reason to by dropping Memphis to a 3 or a 4. i assume it's in the NCAA's best interests to have as many strong conferences as possible and when a team so thoroughly dominates a conference that still has a legitimate name, like Memphis has in C-USA, they'll probably be rewarded with a 2. especially if it is in line with AP polls and nobody would call them completely nuts for putting them as a 2. once C-USA was plundered, i lean towards thinking that the NCAA falls in defense of those teams like Memphis that stayed and took significant hits to revenue (gate, etc.). i'm wondering what has happened to them in the past on selection sunday since the members in CUSA have changed. ...or maybe the ncaa doesn't even think about this stuff.

I don’t really think we’ll win our next 5 games, but for ’s sake, let’s say we do. Who could possibly be better for a #1 than us?
- OSU if they win out regular season and maybe once in Conf Tourney
- Wisconsin if they win Conference Tourney (maybe if they make the final)
- UNC is they win Conference Tourney (outside shot if they make the final)
- Florida if they win Conference Tourney (outside shot if they make the final)
- UCLA (if they win out reg season and win once in conference tourney)
- Memphis if they win Conference Tourney
- A&M or Kansas if they win Conference Tourney
That's 8 possible teams.

I'm looking for GU & UNC as 1 and 2 or 2 and 1 in East Rutherford regional. Also both may get their 1st/2nd round pods at Wake.

They have played no one. - A&M or Kansas if they win Conference Tourney We are ahead of these two, each only has one top 25 win. I think OSU and UCLA are locks at this point (barring a total meltdown). That takes two spots. UNC is next on the list, especially because of strenght of schedule. I think two losses are necessary for use to move ahead of them. I think Florida will have to win the SEC tourney to be ahead of us (simply based on two losses in the past two weeks.) So, I think it's possible, but I think we have an outside shot at a #1 if we win out, but Syracuse first.

Any benefit to being #2 or even 3 in East Rutherford rather than #1 further from home?

Memphis will get a #3 at best. They are this years GW. Kansas or A&M will get a #1. UNC, OSU, UCLA will all lose at least one more so the opportunity is there. We could get a tough first BET game against someone like Nova so you never know. I agree with the above posts that wherever we land, we will be able to run it all the way to Atlanta if we are on our game.

Sorry for the double post, but did anyone notice that the Princeton AD is heading up the selection committee? This can't hurt if it is a close call.

Well, one thing that could work in our favor is that we could be the lowest #2 with Memphis as the highest #3, or vice versa. I'd rather that scenario than Texas A&M or Kansas.
