Watching Louisiville-UConn and the "other possible #1 seeds" were A&M, Kansas, and Memphis OK, I'm officially a little ticked off here. The Hoyas have more top 50 wins (6) than all three of those teams (4, 4, and ONE respectively). They have no losses outside the top 50 (all those teams do). Their RPIs are not appreciably better (Hoyas at 16 versus 13, 15, and 9 for those three). Plus, the Hoyas have the most true road wins of any of those teams (9). Maybe it's SOS? Nope, those three are 57, 65, and 71 respectively. The Hoyas check in at #31. I don't think the Hoyas are a #1 seed right now of course, but I can't see how these three teams are any closer than the Hoyas. The ONLY thing they all have in common is they all have fewer overall losses than the Hoyas (4, 4, and 3). No offense to those teams but big deal considering the rest of their resumes.

Can't really disagree with any points there... but then again, I have no problem flying under the radar (if you can really say the team is still doing that with a straight face). People will take notice. The seeding will work itself out. One, three, five, ten... it won't matter what seed the Hoyas are given. They can run with any team in the land. Flair's Theorem always holds: "In order to be the man... WOOOOOOOO!!!... you gotta beat the man."

A case can be made for us if we win out. That would be 16 wins in a row, an outright regular season crown and a conference tournament victory. Plus other teams will lose. No way Memphis should get a number 1 before us. They have 1 win against a top 50 team and 4 wins (including the 1) against top 100 teams.

memphis isnt even a #2 seed at this point, and probably wont be unless all other teams fall apart. They have beaten nobody and they have nobody left on their schedule (including the tournament)...i think their ceiling is a #3 seed, as the commitee will see who they have played, as they did with GW last year.

I will be VERY happy with a # 2 seed. Not much difference from the one, and whether we are a 1 or 2, we still wouldn't have to face the OTHER 1 or 2 till the Regional Final. Now NEXT year, I want it to be UNQUESTIONED, at this time that "THE HOYAS ARE OBVIOUSLY THE OVERALL # 1" heading into all tournaments.

A piece of good news -- the chair of the selection committee is the AD at Princeton. He could do us a favor. I don't think there's any bad blood with JT3, who was well-liked up there.

i mean this year is rediculous, all these mid major conference teams are being seeded so high, but no worries, once the big dance comes along, the teams from the big conferences are going to destroy these other teams.

if we don't lose again, we'll move ahead of those crappy teams.
those lists are made based on the national polls, which as we all know are meaningless. the committee pays no attention to them.
I had to laugh when "Jimmy D" (Dykes?) shared with Brad Nessler and viewers his breakdown of the Big East NCAA resumes during their ABC broadcast of Marquette-Notre Dame. To be cute he tried to do it like seating categories. Get this, he had Pitt as the only "first class" team and Georgetown in "business class." It was so blatently idiotic that Nessler called him on it: "sounds to me like maybe Georgetown and Pitt just swapped seats" and Jimmy D didn't really know what to say.
Say what you will about Seth Davis, but I'd probably take his projections over anybody of the color analysts that were on TV yesterday (Bob Wenzel, Gminski, "Jimmy D", etc.)

This is the same CBS broadcast that kept claiming that UCON was playing for their (NCAA) tournament lives today.

I would be happy with a #2 seed as well.
I think that A&M probably would get a #1 seed over us. Outside of us, they are the best candidate no one talks about for a Final 4 run this year.

I agree that A&M is probably a #1 over us right now, Kansas may be as well. All comes down to what happens in conference tournies right now. Drop one early and you're looking at a #2 maybe #3 seed. Keep winning and it's a 1 seed.

Not being the media darling and mentioned in the same breath as the "elite" teams is the best thing for us.
As buffalo hoya said flying under the radar is a good thing, and i bet coach prefers it as well as he can use the disrespect card to keep the guys motivated and hungry.

I agree that we're in a great position right now as a 2 or even a 3 seed. But I think it's probable that we'll at least be strongly considered as a 1 if we win out and win the conference tourney. A lot can (and tends to) happen to those top teams in their conference tournaments, and I can easily see ALL of the current 1 seeds/potential 1 seeds getting knocked off in their conference tourneys.
Except Memphis. If they get knocked out of their conference tournament, they should be in the NIT. But they still shouldn't be considered that strongly if they do win. Remember when St. Joe's was a controversial 1 seed with only one loss? Teams that really put on a show in not-so-good conferences have to be extremely impressive to get the 1 seed.
Even think about Florida though. They've been a 1 seed lock all season. Not that we're necessarily better than them, but if GU follows through like I described and Florida loses one in their conference tourney and someone on the selection committee can shake a "Florida is the best because they are" complex and has a look at the numbers, there isn't much of a case to put GU behind Florida. If nothing else though, we'll be all up in that discussion.

Speaking of other possible #1 seeds, Wisconsin just suffered a big blow. Their 3rd leading scorer and best big man Brian Butch just suffered what looks like a horrible injury. Fell over his own guy and looked like he dislocated his right elbow. He was in major pain and looks like he might be done for the year. Never want to see that happen. Tough tough break for Wisconsin.

Seth Davis just said he likes us as a two. Kansas as well, and maybe even Southern Illinois.

Actually things are really coming around for us seeding wise. Vandy (29) and Louisville (39) both have moved up considerably in the past few weeks. Along with Nova, that's 3 top notch road victories. If we win out we really could end up with a number 1 seed.
