Currently #12 in both polls
#11 Coaches/#9 AP Wash State lost (to Oregon) #8 Coaches/#10 AP Pitt lost (to the Alpha Dogs)
The next hurdles are Nevada (24-2) and Texas A&M (2 decisive wins this week). Don't know that we'll jump either of them, though we're getting a ton of attention, so maybe Nevada.
10th is a lock / outside shot at 9th
Interesting thing with Florida down 15 at the half... where would #3 Florida fall with 2 consecutive Saturdays of losses? Do they stay in the Top 10?

Wouldnt shock me if Florida wins this game, though.
Agree that 10 is a lock, but i could see us higher and essentially swapping spots with Pitt in the Coaches.

What does Maryland beating North Carolina mean to the rankings? I don't think it means we pass UNC, but I will say that Maryland winning was in our best interest if we realistically hope that a 1 seed is possible (feel free to flame away at the heretic)

I was getting ready to post the same thing on the Games of Interest Thread. It's getting way ahead of ourselves, but if we continue to win, that UNC loss only helps...

The Hoyas are the hottest team in college basketball today. I think we will move to #8 in both polls. I am usually pesimistic about our rankings but being number one in the Big East means something in the rankings. Plus most bracketologists have us as a #2 seed right now which says the Hoyas should be in the top eight teams in the country. Bring on the Orange.

Who do we jump to get to 8?
We will definitely bypass Wash St and Pitt. That's up to 10. I could see us getting by Nevada under the "we're hot" banner. That's 9.
But who else? - A&M and Kansas are playing too well in a big conference. - Memphis has won 17 in a row; that's 6 more than 11 in a row
- Then you come to the week's losers. UNC at #5 - still 23-5 (and a media darling) Florida at #3 - 24-4 (although 2 out of 3 losses) Wisconsin at #1/#2 - 26-4 (Does 2 losses send you from #1 to #9?)
I think your new Top 5 is: 1. Ohio St. 2. UCLA 3. Kansas 4. Memphis 5. A&M 6. Florida 7. UNC 8. Wisconsin 9. HOYAS 10. Nevada

Ohio State is the worst #1 team in the history of the poll.

Ohio State is the worst #1 team in the history of the poll. Their ranking is based solely on potential, IMO.

So in Parrish's poll, UNC moved up from 5 to 4 after losing to Maryland. Nice.
I think we should move ahead of UNC. We both have 5 losses, but we are hotter. I know this will not happen though.

I think your new Top 5 is: 1. Ohio St. 2. UCLA 3. Kansas 4. Memphis 5. A&M 6. Florida 7. UNC 8. Wisconsin 9. HOYAS 10. Nevada I agree that the poll will look something like that (I would be very disappointed if Memphis goes that high).. without media biases and all of that good stuff - it SHOULD look something like this: 1. Ohio St. 2. UCLA 3. A&M (beat Kansas at the Phog) 4. Kansas 5. Hoyas 6. UNC 7. Florida 8. Memphis 9. Wisconsin 10. Wazzou screw Nevada... and finally I can say with conviction that as a Hoya fan, not 1 team in the nation scares me

I was very confused about that in Parrish's as well. Not sure how you move up with a loss like that. Could it be possible that he just made the rankings before that result last night and then didn't bother to change it? Or maybe he's just trying to keep his rankings "neat" since he probably still considers them a #1 seed despite that loss and wants to keep them in the top 4.
I'm not saying we should be ahead of them at this point (although it would be very close), but how does he not move a team like Kansas ahead of them? Fewer losses and a much hotter team than UNC.
