KenPom explains the crazy situation where Hibbert sort of fouled out last night. kenpom.com/blog/Georgetown’s Jeremiah Rivers was credited with a foul when he wasn’t playing, early in the second half. (I had to remove this for my program to work properly.) The foul should have been credited to Roy Hibbert. It didn’t matter much - that would have been Hibbert’s second foul, and when Hibbert eventually picked up what was officially his fourth foul with 4:29 to play, he was removed from the game by John Thompson III and didn’t return.

Interesting that Green was the only GU player in the negative on the +/- for this game

I thought this situation was ridiculous last night. The announcers did a good job of pointing out that it's just plain unfair to be taking any time to figure out whether he had 5 or not, while the whole time the guy is forced to sit on the bench. Had this been a closer game with only 4 legitimate fouls, the "5 or 4" confusion could have really hurt the Hoyas. Thankfully the game was pretty much out of reach when he went out, but the these scorekeepers were either ridiculous homers in taking all that time or just completely incompetent.

Interesting that Green was the only GU player in the negative on the +/- for this game Jeff's minus-2 rating for the game shows the shortcomings of the measurement on a game by game basis. Basically, he carried us during a period where Cincinnati shot extremely well and was on the bench for the period when we started making, as opposed to missing, open 3 pointers.

Kenpom was acknowledged that the plus/minus will have trouble in the college context because so many player play nearly the entire game...making the measurement very hard to determine. If, and I think its the case, Green was on the bench during the 40 second span that Rivers hit back to back threes, that's a six point swing in a sixty second rest and would significantly effect his plus/minus rating.

Hoyas went on something like a 20-5 run while Jeff sat at the end of the first half.
