I didn't see one of these for today, and having 3000 posts would be awesome, so here goes:
Big East DePaul at Notre Dame West Virginia at Providence
RPI American @ Navy

WV shoots 9 for 40 from three, cut a six point lead to one, but missed an assigment and PC had an uncontested dunk at the end, 64-61.

#2 Wisconsin goes down at Michigan State. So at this point, if we want a #1 seed, you'd have to root for the winner of Saturday's game b/w Wisconsin and OSU to also win the Big 10 tournament, right? Also, American beat Navy. 71-60

There's something I like about Michigan State. The little guard, Neitzel, has ice water running through his veins. And Izzo is one of the best coaches around.
But I'm glad to see Wisconsin lose.

So at this point, if we want a #1 seed, you'd have to root for the winner of Saturday's game b/w Wisconsin and OSU to also win the Big 10 tournament, right? This is right...That would add two losses to the losing team's profile. I really think Wisconsin's going to win both. But, if they split, would both receive a #1 seed over a Hoyas team that wins out (or loses 1 more non-Pitt regular season game, then goes on to win the BET, giving them a 26-6, 13-3, BE Champs record)? I don't think so...In that scenario, I say the Big Ten champ gets the 1 seed and the loser gets the 2. If the loser is the team that also loses in this Saturday's matchup, that team could be, but is not likely to be, knocked down to a 3 seed. I don't think UNC will win the ACC tournament, and I don't think UCLA will win the PAC-10. I think the only 1-seed lock right now is Florida. I don't think, if we end up with the record I cite above, there's anyway a Texas A & M or a Kansas can sneak up into the #1 seed over us, unless one of them also wins out and wins the Big 12 tournament. My logic says that, with the above-cited record, we'll be a 1-seed along with Florida, Wisconsin and whichever team Kansas/A&M/UCLA/UNC finishes strongest. The 2 seeds would be the remaining three teams + the loser of the Big Ten.

Sure...I'd love to see Michigan pick up at least one quality win in the next two weeks so that their RPI can stick above 50.
If Depaul (56), West Virginia (53) and Michigan (57) can sneak back into the top 50, and if we win against Pitt, we'll be 9-5 against the Top 50.

Another 1 seed candidate to throw into the hat..
I think if Wazzou wins out (including the Pac-10 tourney), it will be very hard not to give them a 1 seed (3 of their last 4 games are: at Oregon, and home against UCLA and USC).. their record is outstanding already and I think even if they only take 3 out of their last 4 (with one of the wins being UCLA) and win their tourney, they are in line for a 1..
I think either A&M or Kansas will in fact win the Big 12 tourney and that will further increase the 1-seed possibilities.
I agree that the Gators are the only lock right now for a 1.. it's somewhat wide open.. the bottom line is we can only afford to lose one more loss - that being a reg season (non-pitt) game - for a 1-seed to come our way.

Well put, Vic.
I agree that Wazzou, if they can pull off the Oregon-UCLA-USC run and then win the Pac-10 tourney, would be impossible to deny a 1-seed. Really. That would just be a sick run against some quality competition. Tony Bennett would be the coach of the year (and probably is already).
That said, they won't do it. Oregon is hungry for a win and needs one so badly...UCLA and USC have won some big games this year and would love to solidify/gain some ground in seeding for their own and NCAA tourneys.

It's probably just me, but I find it hard to believe coaches/teams really think about seeding. Winning, always. These seed questions strike me as strictly of fan interest.
