yesterday, Jessie stepped up HUGE! 16 pts, 6-10 shooting, 5 boards, 3 assists, great D. 39 minutes not to mention the miracle Three!
Who else is going to surprise us with a big game soon... vs. Pitt? in the BET? the NCAA's?
I have a feeling DaJuan is going to have a surprisingly big game soon. Maybe Jeff will be in foul trouble, or the D will concentrate on him. Or defenses will be so concerned about Jeff and Roy, and looking to stop Jon who is MONEY from deep, and now they are worried about Jessie...
DaJuan has so much talent. We and he have the luxury of allowing him to develop at a comfortable pace. Not to say he didn't play well yesterday too. 4 blocks! 6 boards (3 offensive), 7/8 free throws, 11 points. The key board at the end of the game and the quick pass to Jeff.
I just have this feeling things are going to break his way and he will rise to the occasion. OK, he's had some big games earlier this year. I am thinking back to another forward from Baltimore who had the same luxury. Reggie came to a REALLY talented team. He didn't even start as a freshman. But he played a key role during the season with a couple big games. But when the post season arrived, I think he raised his game. In the NCAA final game vs. Houston, he was our leading scorer. I don't mean to compare Dajuan to Reggie overall....that's not fair. But we have this hidden gem who is just starting to come into his own. All the focus on his teammates has left him free to hit key THREES these past few weeks. Get boards. Back cut to the hoop. We have not yet seen the full DaJuan repertoire. But he has 25 games of college experience now. He's far ahead of the Summers of last Fall.
That's the beauty of this team and JT3's system. Everyone plays a key role. And the opposing defense doesn't know who to stop. They can't stop everyone.
MAN!!! This is a GREAT Hoya Season - How appropriate for our 100th Anniversary Year! Current students -- make sure you appreciate and remember every moment! and keep up your GREAT support of our team.

Who's next? since you already mentioned Dajuan I'll say someone whom we've all thought his contributions would not come until next year....................Vernon Macklin. I think he is starting to get more and more comfortable and watching Dajuan perform as well as he has I think he has something to prove. My choice for the player to step up next is VM.

As a former Jessie skeptic, he has made a true believer out of me. As well, all the attention our stars receive has to be beneficial to Summers' development. Big John said the same thing about Bill Martin and Anthony Jones in their freshman season. All the attention Patrick received kept them out of the "fishbowl", the term Big John used to describe the media attention. Same is true with DaJuan. This kid should only get better and better under our coaching staff.

I am going to go ahead and say it WONT be Jeremiah. I am glad he is getting experience out there and wont be totally lost if pressed into duty but I dont see him doing anything in resemblance to what Sapp did on Saturday...My vote goes to VMAck

Rivers seems to have no confidence in his jumper. I can't remember him making one in a BE game all season. He has a very good handle and has really contributed to the Hoyas ability to handle the press(except for the Nova game, where he looked like a high school junior varsity player). Those of you who were able to see him play in Fl, what was his shooting % for the 2pt and 3pt shot? For what its worth I think Tyler Crawford will be the next breakout guy. The Hoyas have shown now that they can handle the press, therefore teams will revert to plan A, playing the zone and making the guards beat them with the 3pt shot. With less need for an extra ball handler Tyler will see increased minutes and his 3pt shot and offensive rebounding will shine for the team

Mack is going to step it up. DaJuan has already stepped his game up quite a bit (even before Jessie) and I think this is definitely making an impression on Mack (he's been too quiet). IT IS TIME

the answer is: the collective unit
the team is looking great and we are getting strong contributions all over the place... if it's not one thing it's a muthafu**in otha' as they say
Jessie's decision making is improving game-by-game, and if we get any contributions from Rivers like we did last night (which will come even more in handy if this defensive plan to stop Roy continues) - the possibilities are endless..
and the Hoyas continue as a force to be reckoned with

"The emergent" Jessie Sapp lived up to his nickname. Wow DaJuan, I knew you were unselfish, but in a thread about who's going to step up you make no mention of yourself? Take some pride in your accomplishments son!
