Let me congratulate you on a couple of fronts.
1. That guy with the "S" on his chest -- 19 points, 10 rebounds and 8 friggin' blocked shots. And you neededed every one of them. That's why my respect for him really grew big time in this game.
2. Jessie Sapp. Enough said. Lucky halfcourt shot, you'll admit, but in some way, it was an accurate punctuation point for one helluva game by him.
3. OK, 3 fronts. Overcoming a partisan, fired up crowd and playing with incredible poise when you needed it most.
You have every right to chant "We are...Georgetown" (altho, and not to bust you here, Marquette had that chant long before any east coast school even knew it existed). You haev one helluva team, gang, and what you did for me today (besides give me a gastric attack) is tell me the Final Four might consider a new potential entrant.
Right now, I look at Florida, I look at my alter ego Buckeyes, Wisconsin, North Carolina, U.C.L.A. and others and I don't see any real reason why J.T.3, if things break right, can't take your team to heights unimagined.
A truly great effort by Georgetown today. No excuses from us. You overcame the partisan crowd, the utter wave of emotion my guys played with and a whole lot of bad karma and won.
For that, I tip my cap to you and wish you nothing but the best (unless you play us again, of course). You have "Big Time" written all over you.
Nice going.
Go 'Cats! Good luck, Hoyas...

Thanks, Buckeye. There are not many fans of other teams who post after a loss. Also, I enjoy how your posts never take up much horizontal space.
And I know I certainly don't want to see Nova in either tournament.

A nice post Buckeye. Kudos to you for coming back after a tough loss. We have had enough of Nova and hope that we don't have to meet up again in the BET or NCAAs!

Nice thoughts, guys. Keep the ball rolling. I think your next game vs. Pitt will be very instructive, but the fact you could beat Marquette by 18 nearly jumped off the Meadowlands scoreboard at me last week.
My first Villanova game out east in nearly 5 seasons. I think the world of J.T.3 and the post-game handshake and session between Jay and J.T.3 said it all. Two class guys, two class programs.
It'll be a helluva rivalry over the next few years and, hopefully, long beyond that.
Good luck...

Classy post. Thanks.
The thing that impressed me the most, was the poise -- as you mentioned -- at the end of the game. Really good teams find a way to win down the stretch. We were down 4 with a few minutes to go in a tough away venue against a very good team. Jeff was the key. He WANTED to win the game. You are right about the "S" on his shirt.

Thanks for the post Buckeye 70 and best wishes to you.
I hope five years from now when we're watching Jeff play somehwere else we'll remember this day when he willed his team to the win.
I don't get to see the Hoyas play live much anymore, but today in front of a semi-hostile (excellent Hoya representation above the 100 level) crowd Jeff put on a good show. Sapp and Summers -nice games too.

Great post Buckeye. Jay Wright is an excellent coach, and Nova is a very good program. I root for you guys when you're not playing us. All the best this season, and next season should be very interesting with your frosh class.

Thanks for the kind words, Buckeye. I was wondering if we would be hearing from you this year, as I've typically found your past posts to be outstanding contributions.
I rather doubt that we'll be hearing much from ncaaball2.

Think we could ever get such kind words from a Twerp fan or an ExCuse fan? Probably not.
Good luck the rest of the way, Buckeye.

Nice, Classy post Buckeye... I am thrilled we won yesterday, but you have a solid team and I know they will represent the BE very well in the NCAA tournament. I just hope we don't have to face them again!

I rather doubt that we'll be hearing much from ncaaball2. Unfortunately, ball has been banned, according to his posts on the Nova board. Too bad, cause I enjoyed his posts, just as I have b70's over the years. Nova has been my second favorite team since Kittles days. Love the rivalry. Good luck to you guys the rest of the way.

Thanks for the classy post b70 - you're a credit to Villanova.
If you guys can bring the same game you brought against us to every other game you play nobody will want to play you. I for one am hoping that we don't run into you in the BET or the NCAA's. Of all the teams we've played in the new year, only Nova seems to have figured out a way to stop our offense, and Jay Wright deserves a lot of credit for that (as tough as it is for me to admit it, he's a damn good coach). I'll admit that I wasn't expecting to walk out of Wachovia with a win yesterday, and based on the reactions of my fellow Hoyas afterwards I think it's safe to say I wasn't alone.
Good luck to you and Nova the rest of the way - except when you play us!

Good post as always Buck.
I'd just like to point out that these two teams have been having some great games these last few years. Last year's game might not have seemed that great if you just saw the final score, but having been there I remember it was quite close and could have gone either way at one point. Obviously both games this year were gritty, tough, and straight battles right to the bitter end.
And I like that. That's how it should be. Georgetown and Villanova battling it out, tough games, pressure defense, good X & O battles by the coaches, big shots.... this is what Big East Basketball is and should be all about. Gotta love how far these 2 programs have come, both returning to the top of the conference over the last 2 years. I look forward to many more wars between Thompson's Hoyas and Wright's 'Cats. Many good years of basketball to come, and that's great news for this conference IMHO.

Nice one, wildhoya! Right on to (as we Pittsburghers are used to saying) the resta yinz.
G'town was just called the best in the Big East by Fran Fraschilla and he cited Kenpom.com, a guy he termed a "Bill James" type of guy statwise. He called Georgetown the most efficient offensive team in the country, shooting the great majority of shots inside the 3 point line.
Impressive. I like the Hoyas to the point where I think NObody will want to play you. I think Georgetown would beat Florida right now. Your defense could beat a North Carolina, take away the Tar Heels' inside game. Kansas is loaded and Self is a great coach, but I think you'd compete. U.C.L.A. is hard to figure out. Some terrific talent, but some big questions, too.
You guys are the goods. Keep up the great work (altho, please, take something of a day off next time you play us. Pretty please?!)
Good luck...
