Wow. This team just beat the team that beat the supposedly # 2 team in the country a couple of days ago with ease. They were up 30 pts in the 2nd half. They are coming off 3 tough games in 6 days. Amazing! I went back last night and looked at the ND and Marguette games in the BE tournament. This team is superior because Hibbert, Green and Wallace are 3rd year students of this system. Most teams run a set play and if it does not work they take the ball back and reset for another play. The Hoya offense seems to be one play with a thousand options, depending on what the defense does. If they do this then we do that, and if they counter that then we do this, etc. They struggled at times last year because after 2 years the players only knew some of the options. Now they know more and this offense is trully scary. If Hibbert, Green, and Wallace stay for the full 4 years and become proficient in even more options, this team would be like watching Tiger Woods play golf, a masterpiece in the making. Oh, and by the way, they are playing great team defense at the same time.

This offense is very much like the Dutch soccer (football) team offense which is fluid and is all based on positions of defense and on own players. It is about making space and creating mis-matches. You are so right that it is like one play with a thousand options, which is the heart of the Dutch soccer system. This type of game depends on smart players who know they system, trust each other, and can think as well as execute on the options.
This new brand of Hoya basketball is absolutely beautiful to watch.

I get what you're saying about the Dutch offense, but it doesn't win them the Cup. The Dutch don't win when it counts and GU will win it all.

I've seen the Dutch. Their goalkeeper travels every time he touches the damn ball! And the refs never call it. Frickin' ridiculous!

Never... EVER... compare Hoya hoops to some sport where a bunch of euros wail around and fake injuries.
If Ewing Jr. had "bumped" some sissy soccer player, the guy would have flopped around like a fish out of water.

The rest are a bunch of Edited.

You're still left with a bunch of floppers. Comparing soccer to Hoya hoops is like comparing the crap they scrape off the Wisey's flat top grill after cooking a Burger Madness to a porterhouse from Peter Luger's.

As someone who grew up playing hockey, I cannot believe we're trying to talk about how "tough" basketball players are.

Anyone remember Brian McBride' bloody and bruised face during the past World Cup? Looked like he had been run over by a tank.
I can understand when traditional-minded American sports fans criticize soccer for its pace or the propensity for the clearly out-played team to win 1-0, but please don't try to pass off basketball or baseball as more physical sports. Flopping exists in soccer, but its being regulated.
