The Rainmaker's rebound and putback of his own miss in the lane was just shown as one of ESPN's top 10 plays tonight.

As beautifully as we played, and have been playing, what really blew my doors tonight was garbage time. Watching TC, Junior, Vern and Jeremiah out there, you know, executing our offense beautifully, that was staggering. My one beef with our recent, ummm, surge, was the lack of playing time for Vern and TC. If we are to really be the title contender it seems we are, we are gonna need a full 10 players some games. That said, it was really sweet to see Macklin playing like he did. He gets it. Junior gets it. TC gets it. Oh, and JT3, he most certainly gets it. Here we are with 5 games left, and we're seeing the development of a deep, deep, bench. I'm starting to get it, too. We are real, real, good.
I was already giddy with Patrick Jr. on the squad, after tonight, I am completely in love...

We had three freshman, Sapp and Green in there for a good clip and they held up fine. It wasn't just garbage time. Very impressive.

This is the type of basketball I love watching--guys are PLAYING, not thinking and they are playing as one unit--which is beautiful basketball.
I could repeat over and over what was already said but I will single out two kids for a great job tonight that stood out to me
Vernon Macklin--activity on glass, great close outs on shooters, excellent passing, and improvement is going to take a huge leap in offseason--the raw talent is there and subtle things like being a fantastic passer/team player is only going to free him up for some easy hoops as he expands his offensive game.
Jeremiah Rivers--was fantastic tonight--he really helped on glass and pushed ball up the court. His rebounding was key spark to extending the game to 17 by Half and loved the dime he dropped to Ticket for the throw down!
Everyone else was solid--minus a few turnovers against the 1-3-1 we're going to see Saturday against Nova and hopefully we'll work on that--attack it--don't retreat or pick up your dribble. Use more ball fakes and then flash guy to middle and run a simple 3 on 2 or 3 on 1 when it's there.
Proud of the kids and just keep doing what you are doing-it's fantastic basketball to watch--from everyone involved.

I like our bench, and I am happy that they have been getting some PT (and that our starters are getting some rest). Still, I think we play significantly better when we have four or five of our starters on the floor. All five of our starters are scoring threats. When they are on the floor together they are really hard to defend.
We lose something when two or more of our bench players are on the floor. Tyler and PE, Jr. can both score, but they have not done so consistently or reliably. They are energy players who offer defense, rebounding, and hard cuts. Rivers is a good ball handler, but he can't shoot. Macklin gets some offensive put backs and has a lot of potential. They are all good role players, and any one of them is great when we have four starters on the floor, but I don't really see them as a key to our success and wouldn't say that we can claim to have a "deep, deep" bench at this point.
Don't get me wrong I think the Hoyas are playing beautiful basketball, and JTIII has done a great job getting the bench time without disrupting the offensive flow.

love this part of the ESPN.com (wire?) recap:
Beilein credited Georgetown for switching on every screen, something only one other team has tried against the Mountaineers this season.
"I can't wait to watch the film and learn, because they're terrific," Beilein said.

Any recruits at the game? I saw Jason Clark there behind the bench--but he was only youngster I could see from home--have to ask guys who attended the game.

Overall great game. However, I was a little worried about our ability to beat the half court trap. It didn't end up being a factor due to our stifling D, but worried me just the same. I am confident however that this will be practiced and a non-factor in the future. Better to see this one weakness in a game that we easily won anyway then to face it in the BET or NCAAs

From ESPN recap:
"It's like the Kenny Rogers song," Thompson said. "We're still sitting at the table. We don't want to start looking at what we're doing or how we've done. We've got how many games left? Hopefully we've put ourselves in a position to make the Big East tournament. It's too soon to start analyzing where we are."
That's Thompson. Everyone else is talking about Georgetown's likely seed in the NCAAs, and he's talking about qualifying for his own conference tournament.
Modesty has its limits, but I'm so damn happy he's our coach. Always humble. Never satisfied. I love every bit of it.

2 things:
1) Roy's third foul was Summers' fault. Summers was trying to fight through a screen, Roy was switching and Summers just pushed Roy into the guy with the ball.
2) Roy had two blocks. The scorer gave him one. Not cool. Not cool at all.

Just watched the final 4 minutes again on MASN. Man that Rivers spin move and flip pass to Macklin for the dunk was amazing!

Really? It looks to me like it's only the Alabama Rainmaker.

Really? It looks to me like it's only the Alabama Rainmaker. There are definitely not six Hoya legs in that picture. Sapp & Rainmaker are there, maybe PEjr is off to the side.

"That was one impressive Georgetown team," West Virginia coach John Beilein said. "It was a clinic. We tried hard, but we were certainly not on their level tonight."
You know this team is good because after each victory the opposing coach has admitted that even on their best night they couldn’t have beaten the HOYAS.

While the half court trap forced some turnovers, Georgetown did manage to extend the lead by attacking the basket. WVU does a great job on that 1-3-1 and plays it the way you're supposed to - full throttle and damn the torpedoes. The Hoyas gained valuable experience last night. Sapp cracked a couple of times with bad passes. But this will make him a better player.
I thought Rivers had an outstanding game. He is staring to make a believer out of me.

My favorite play of the night was Macklin's assist to PE2 for the dunk.
