Was that Roy Hibbert that was 12 for 13 from the line? Indeed, it was.
Great win today against a team that gave us fits last year. We shot the lights out in the 1st half, and minus some garbage 3's by Alexander late, we really won this game by 25 or so. The defensive effort was superb, we basically shut down any form of dribble penetration they could muster and contested almost every outside shot. Roy and Jeff again showed up like POY candidates, and they got help from just about everybody, from Rivers ball handling and rebounding to Wallace's clutch shooting to Sapp's pretty dishes (if he didnt turn the ball over against the trap) to Summers being the Dagger once again (stupid Thornton for using up that nickname), this was a TOTAL TEAM EFFORT and it should be apparent to not just us but the whole country that this team is for real and is one of the nation's elite. Guys were drawing charges, getting back in transition D, making the extra pass to the open man, etc. Things like these show me this team has matured and they are starting to consistently bring this level of play every night. I was also pumped that the crowd (which didn't see as big as the Marquette game) was extremely vocal tonight (moreso than Saturday). Best moment was after the Ewing/Alexander incident when the WVU fans tried to start up their annoying chant, and the Hoya fans responded and shut them down cold.
On to Nova. It's time for revenge!

Another fantastic win. Everything was working tonight......the 1-3-1 gave a little trouble now and then, but after the first few minutes we handled it very well. Some great time outs by Coach early on when he saw things he didn't like and they all had the intended results.
Jeff and Roy were, once again, huge- not much else to say except, may this last the rest of the year and if it does, the rest of the country had better watch out.
DaJuan certainly added to his "Assassin" status- another great game for him.
Wallace, Sapp and Rivers- A great job overall handling the pressure WVU employed. They had a pretty aggressive 1-3-1 most of the game and other than a few rough spots, they did very well. While he still needs a lot of work on his shot, I feel better and better watching Rivers handle the ball. Not sure about the numbers, but all 3 guards seemed to be tremendous on the boards.....Rivers really got up there a few times.
Patrick showed a little of that vintage attitude tonight and brought his usual energy with some good play on both ends.
Vernon (nice for him to get enough PT to comment on) was great tonight. I'm sure his numbers won't be overly impressive, but the quality time he put in will really help him. This was a great team for him to get bigger minutes against- WVU has little to no inside game and Vernon didn't have anywhere near the trouble defending in the middle as it seems he has had in some other games (as I have said before, some work in the weight room should fix that). I saw at least 2-3 very nice passes, some in difficult spots, that resulted in baskets. That, combined with a put-back or 2 and the big dunk near the end on the dish from Rivers are all signs of great things to come.....a good confidence booster for Mr. Macklin.
Next up, we NEED to put Nova away and show them that first game was a fluke. No way they should beat us and we should be hungry enough from the first loss to avoid any kind of let down. Things are rolling and this team is just incredible to watch right now.....the most enjoyable basketball I have watched in a very long time. Let's just keep avoiding the let downs and keep playing our game. Five more games to go before the "real" season starts.....keep taking them one by one.

As an '82 grad, I'm happy to see the younger alums (and students) get a chance to experience seeing the Hoyas climb their way up. Each season gets better and better, there's pain along the way, but ultimately......
It's great to see the whole Hoya community pull together, as the Gala showed.
Only prob is that I'm gonna emotionally shell out more money than I should to good ol GU. Well, the school deserves it...after all, the admin reacted to the petitions to get rid of Esch...and the brains to bring in JT3. And now look what's going down. This is great.

per ESPN box score..
FG 59.1%, 3-PT 38.5%, FT 82.4% equals exactly 180
Our team as a whole is a 180 shooter. How do you like that Oaf-fense?
Way to go HOYAS!!!!!!

Rebounds per ESPN box -- 30 to 15(!)
Is that possible? Was WVU really that out of this game?
Got to like Pitt coughing up a hairball, too -- Hoyas tied for top spot!

It's funny that we have consecutive 18 point wins, but the two games were in no respect alike.

What a freakin' buzzsaw tonight. The D in the first half was awesome -- did WVU have any uncontested 3s?
Saturday will be tough. If the Hoyas keep at this level of play, they will be fine...

I. Love. This. Team.
I was very nervous at halftime... we were up by about that much last year and everyone came out all mad, fouled a lot and we lost it. This time they kept their heads, made smart passes (for the most part) and SHUT UP the goobers in the 400's. Eat it Mountaineers. The Hoyas are rollin, get out of the way.

I forgot. Three cheers for Mommy and Daddy Hibbert who were sitting across the aisle. They could not have looked any prouder of their boy and the team as a whole. GO HOYAS

WVU fans should be Editeded. Their game plan apparently was "let's chuck up threes early in the shot clock and hope for the best".

Ok, apparently that's a naughty word. It should read something like "WVU fans should be angry".

That's the Louisville-hold-on-tight-and-pray offense.... we're may not be a high-percentage team from out there right now, but if we throw up enough, some will fall. Haha nice try fellas

Maybe I notice this more because I sit near the opponents' bench, but one of the most amazing things about the last two games--we've made two very good coaches in Tom Crean and John Beilein look absolutely clueless. John Beilein yelled for 40 minutes tonight and it did absolutely nothing.
Been a looooooooong time since that Nova game. Bring that intensity to Philadelphia next weekend and we'll have a shot of pulling the trifecta with Jay Wright and getting some revenge.

I am so proud to watch this team. This is a true revitalization from a DISMAL time in Hoya History in 2004. Kudos to Jeff, Roy, JW, JTIII and all the others for a ton of hard work to get this program back where it belongs ... at the top. I Loved the offense tonight. If we didn't turn it over to the trap, we dominated it. Shot almost 80-percent in the first half. Can you believe that? Roy could not be stopped when he was in there, though I still wish we had a different offensive set for Vernon when he's in there. He just can't post up like Hibbs can just yet. Overall great game, and MASSIVE KUDOS (It's in ALL CAPS so you know it's massive!) to the student section tossing the "Go HOOOOOOOME Mountaineers" chant back at the WVU fans. Excellent and far more than those "classy" (and by "classy" I mean completely tactless) idiots deserved. I was waiting for a "Warm Up Your House" chant, but bashing the RV community might have been going a bit far. And for those who think Ewing was out of line slapping away Beilein's hand? Forget about it. I'm just sorry he missed his head. A coach should NEVER grab a player on the other team like that. They both should have gotten Techs, but the Refs dropped the ball. Last note: Check out the photo gallery with the game story at ESPN.com to see a few great examples of no-calls. sports.espn.go.com/ncb/photos?gameId=270430046

Dear Hoyas,
I am so proud of you guys. The smart, solid play, the tenacity, the poise, the passion, and the persistence: you are what Georgetown is about. Thank you for working hard, listening to your coach, and getting the job done!
With Great Respect, Coast2Coast
I get scared every time we play WVU, and like most others on this board, cannot stand their fans.
But 3 things happened tonight: (1) We actually met a cool middle-aged WVU fan who sat in the box behind us. He led off with how he remembered us from last season and what good fans we were. Then he told us to knock off the WV bashing (fair enough). Then he gushed about how awesome the Hoyas are this season for the REST OF THE GAME, and what a great coach JTIII is. So, Mr Blue-and-Gold Tie, you've single-handedly reversed some of my negative feelings about your fellow 'Eers. (2) The Hoyas won by 50. Seriously. Not counting garbage time, and all other things considered, if we don't start playing "let's go gameclock" basketball down the stretch we win by 50. What a great performance by all 5 starters and our bench. (3) My favorite Duke fan (I know how that sounds, just go with it) said during the game that the Hoyas are playing like a Final Four caliber team. She also said we're really fun to watch -- ain't that the truth!
I love this team, too. I've loved them since day 1 of the season, loved them when they started 4-3 and some thought the sky was falling, kept on loving them when we started the Big East 1-2, and boy oh boy do I REALLY LOVE THEM NOW! 8 good games in a row and we are HOT BABY.
