As of this morning, Pomeroy ranks our offense as the most efficient offense in Division 1.
As one who cringed through the deterioration of our offense post-1990, who suffered through the "everyone stand still while we lob it into Zo and Othella" era, who was amazed by the "let's give it to AI and everyone watch" period and who had become resigned to the "we have no scorers here so let's just throw it up and everyone go to the glass" ugliness, I must say that I had pretty much given up hope before the last coaching change.
And now this, MOST EFFICIENT OFFENSE IN THE COUNTRY!!!!!!! I feel like I am in an alternative universe.
Thank you.

Here is today's quick blurb written up by Ken on the Hoyas"
"I’ve talked about the Tar Heels enough, but how about Georgetown? They provide a deadly combination of shooting (ranking 3rd) and offensive rebounding (10th). It’s Princeton on steroids. Georgetown’s offensive rebounding won’t get the pub it deserves (except for the Friday a while back where they outrebounded Seton Hall 17-7 on the Hoyas’ offensive end.) because they don’t miss many shots and don’t take as many as most teams. Offensive rebounding opportunities are probably rarer for Georgetown than any other team in the land, but they are a significant factor in their success. They can turn the ball over regularly (and do!) and still pummel opponents with points."

To quote Brian Fantana, "I'm very aroused." This is great news.

Honestly, Pomeroy makes me almost perpetually happy. 1st - he provides free daily updated versions of his rankings and RPI, and now this.

To add to the party, Sagarin has us at #17 in his rankings, which if I'm not mistaken, might be the highest we've been all season.

Good stuff. Of course, most TV announcers will continue to cite raw team scoring numbers to portray Georgetown as a great defensive team and a mediocre offensive squad.

That can't be right because we're not more efficient than last year. No way we could be more efficient shooting fewer threes and getting to the basket. Without Darrel Owens taking only threes and uncontested layups, I refuse to believe we could be the most efficient team in the nation.
And the rest of the top 10 most-efficient offenses in the nation don't shoot tons of threes either. Don't they know that if you hit just 40% from three, it's like 60% from 2? Simple math. Idiots.

our shooting percentage is way up this year. we're definitely more efficient. If we continue to take of the ball, we'll be fine.

We are actually shooting basically the same amount of threes as we did last year. 19.6 per game last year in the Big East and so far 15.9 per game this year. So other than the nearly 20% drop, we're almost exactly the same. It's a good thing too, because this team can't shoot the three. Look at games 6 and 7 this year for evidence.
