What a shock that would be, but they are spiraling downward at a rapid pace. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy!!

It's a pretty safe bet to say Rutgers, USF and Cincy will not be joining the rest of us at MSG. At this point in the season I think the competition for that fourth non-tourney spot is between UConn and SHU. If you're wondering, they play each other Feb. 14 in Storrs and I'll be rooting for the Pirates to get that head-to-head tiebreaker.

Now this is the kind of projection thread that I like!
They don't exactly have an easy road ahead (Cuse twice, Louisville, Hoyas, Nova) but they do get Rutgers twice and SHU at home, so they should no worse than 5 wins in BE play (if they lose one of those three, whew!).
That'll probably be enough to get them in the tournament.
But it still is nice to watch them strugg-a-ling.
Note that I am refraining from mentioning a certain opportunity a certain team might have to keep a certain other team out of NYC.

i dont think UConn missing the tournament is good for the conference..Only the top tier of teams are capable of consistently bringing in top 25 talent, Uconn obviously being one of them..A down year for them, is a down year for the conference..As much as I dont root FOR Uconn, I wouldnt mind a nice NIT run...

Not quite Instant Karma, but Fagan has been cruising for this one for a long time.

every top program has a down year at some point, even the duke and north carolina's of the world...they have a ton of underclassmen and top talent on that squad and some coming in, so they won't be down for long. I don't think it is a negative development for the conference at all.

I'd like to play UCONN in the BET so we can beat them twice.

Uconn will be dangerous the rest of this season, and will be much improved next year.

Yeah I really don't see how this is a good development at all except for our final home game. Had UConn played better, their wins over their various non-conf opponents before us would make a potential win for us an even greater bonus. Right now it would be doing about as good as much for us as that Depaul game. If it was up to moi, the BE would go a perfect 170-0 or whatever OOC. Of course there have to be teams who win and lose, but I'd prefer the USF, Rutgers and Cincy's of the world to be 2-14 in conference and drag our RPI and Conf. rep down, not our notable members.

Pascal Fleury? Matt Causey was a nice enough guy.

UConn can suuuuuck it.
I hope they miss the BET, and we get to hear Calhoun whine about how all 16 teams should be invited...that it's a shame that his kids don't get to have the MSG experience...all that crap. Because you know he will. And I'll enjoy every minute of it.

Connecticut will make the tournament, but Calhoun regularly runs into this "off year" every four or five years.
Three of the bottom four are very likely set: Cincinnati, Rutgers, and South Florida. Among the next group that includes Seton Hall, St. John's, and UConn, the Huskies have the more favorable schedule down the road. UConn needs three wins from a group which includes Rutgers, Syracuse, Seton Hall, at Syracuse, at Rutgers, Louisville, Villanova, and at Georgetown.
By contrast, the Hall's remaining schedule (West Virginia, Villanova, at Connecticut, at West Virginia, Pitt, South Florida, at Cincinnati, at Louisville) is slightly less favorable. The Hall probably needs to win 2-3 of these to be in the group of 12.
