Just one more point that I'd like to bring up against anyone who criticizes our offensive system for supposedly not working: Andy Katz in his Pitt article stated that we were the first team in 59 games to shoot over 50% (not 60%) against Pitt. That is pretty impressive. Obviously offense was not the concern last night, something some people have are continuing to focus on for some bizarre reason.

that's a great stat. we need to play with a bit more consistency on the offensive end but we certainly have the talent, coaching on that side of the ledger.

Our offense has been fine against teams that play us straight up man to man. Our offense has totally failed against teams that primarily have zoned us (Oregon, Villanova).

The offense "only" produced 10 TO's against Pitt, correct? Not great but considering our prior games, combined with Pitt's usually tough D, that's not bad.

We had five turnovers in the first six minutes. As Iwatched the game, I feared another turnoverfest in the making. But it didn't turn out that way. Five turnovers in the last 34 minutes is more than acceptable.

Five turnovers in the last 34 minutes is more than acceptable. Dunno if this is true or imagined (and I'm too lazy to look at the play-by-play on GUHoyas), but I thought JTIII was pulling players who committed turnovers in the 1st half. I recall seeing Rivers, Wallace and Sapp get yanked on the next whistle after a TO. Okay, I looked: 16:17 Wallace TO; Rivers subs for him immediately 14:55 Sapp TO; Wallace/Crawford in, Summers/Sapp out immediately 13:22 Rivers TO; Sapp in for Rivers at 12:55 I'd suggest that JTIII is making a point about valuing the ball, and the team got the message. So, is that good or bad coaching?

Your analysis is intriguing, but please bear in mind that these substitutions may have reported to the table prior to the turnovers in question. Without a Play-by-Play in hand while watching the tape of the game, it may be too difficult to state with certainty.
On the other hand, I would not be surprised if Coach were using subs to make "a point about valuing the ball".
