Jon Wallace has nothing to worry about from either Freeman or Wright. the starting 2 and 3 slots, however, may be a little more fluid for 08. I don't expect any drastic change anyway. The good thing about players like Austin Freeman and Chris Wright is that they have the ability to provide a spark coming off of the bench with their offensive skills. Jon Wallace will never be a good bench player...Regardless of who's more talented (which I don't concede) The sum of Wallace starting+ Wright and/or Freeman on the bench leads to greater results than the reverse. Has anyone here seen Ray Reed play? yea? if he was still on the team against Nova or Pitt would we have lost? probably...and he bring similar skills to the table that people gush over Freeman and Wright for. Any credibility in this post was lost with comparing Ray Reed to Wright and Freeman. Even people who think Wallace might start ahead of them realize that these kids are far superior to Ray Reed--who was a nice role player in "rag the ball" type of defender, but brought absolutely nothing to the team on offensive end. If you aren't going to be an intimidating/suffocating defense, then you better outscore people and have weapons all over court to do so. Wright and Freeman are those type of players--and think many have stated excellent analysis of their games. I agree with MCI too--Freeman is a better pure shooter then Chris--but it's not as if Chris is Joey Brown out there. For those of you who want Wallace to play a lot over Wright--then best scenario might be Wallace at 2G because Wright needs to have ball in his hands and it frees up Wallace to have open looks--and Wright can penetrate and create offense--Wallace can't do that consistently.

I think Chris has more range than Freeman, maybe I'm wrong, I mean they both are going to be great in our back court next year no question. I like having a healthy argument about to great high school players coming to the hill top. But whats with the Ray Reed comparison to Wright and Freeman all about. You cant be serious, they are not even on the same planet in a basketball sense. Is it April 1st?

While I agree wallace probably will start next year, I can't believe you're serious in thinking Ray Reed had the skills of Freeman or Wright. You better be totally absolutely wrong about that.

Let me be clear: Austin Freeman or Chris Wright as Freshman>> Ray Reed's senior year potential. My point was is regarding style of play. And for what it's worth, Ray Reed while during his time at Georgetown was the best 1 on 1 offensive player on the team, but thats really not the road I'm trying to go down, we'll have to agree to dissagre I guess.
My main sentiments about this discussion are that it is easy to look ahead to the future and see greener pastures, especially when we have such heralded recruits coming in like Austin Freeman and Chris Wright. We do it every year. But it is rare when you have freshman come in and unseat starters. For all of their positive attributes they're still going to be freshman. They're still going to need to adjust to the system, theyre still going to have to grow to be college level defenders, theyre going to have to adjust to being at least the 3rd option after spending their entire careers being # 1.

Freeman & Wright > AI > Ray Reed> Butch McCrae > Jesus
Hoya National Championships in '08, '09, '11, '12, '14-'27 and '29.
EDIT: "Jesus" can be Jesus Shuttlesworth or Jesus H. Christ. Your choice.

I don't know why we can't get DeMatha and St. John's to award diplomas to Freeman and Wright now so we can pull Jon's and Jesse's scholarships and bring Austin and Chris in now and just get on with it.

ray reed was a walking turnover/bricklayer...the kid brought intensity on the defensive end...thats it...i have only seen wright and freeman in a handful of games, but both are 10x more polished offensively than ray reed now at cs fullerton...so i dont have any idea what you are talking about

What is all this fuss over our guards about? So NYR320 was right ... you will come back only after a loss. Was watching tape of Kenner League opponents getting too tough?

Why don't we win in '10, '13, and '28? Was it III getting out-coached? '10 and '13 - Georgetown loses in the second round both years when their opponents shoot 100% and 98%, respectively. mrsixer blames it on the guards, YB organizes "rallies" to have the entire program scrapped, and a middle-aged Cam has his fourth child, Horace, to go with his eldest daughter Boubacar, and his twin sons, Ya and Ya. easyed, now 90 or so, rages against our nation's first female President, Chelsea Clinton. '28 - the senior backcourt of Matthew Causey Jr. and Ray Reed III (only playing because of the departures of the previous year's entire starting five and first four off the bench to the NBA - 8 of which are taken in the lottery) cannot find a way to win despite All-American and Wooden Award winner Michael "Baby Oden" Sweetney II's 34 pts and 15 boards per game. Sweetney II stays the following year and leads the team to another title. The run ends there, however, as G'Town is banned from NCAA play for a decade for being too damn good. III retires to Vegas to run the Thompson And Sons casino and jai lai court. EDIT: Dick Vitale's cryogenically frozen body remains in cold storage, while doctors work on a cure for 17 stab wounds to the back, courtesy of rising broadcasting star Victor Shomnick.

I assume its sarcasm, but I think our guards have played very well recently, with the exception of the Villanova game, which was a real stinker for everyone, forwards and center included. ND and Pitt showed we are on track --- watch the wins come in bunches now.
