Check it out through the front page: www.hoyasaxa.com/sports/bball.htmFrom today's "It's Still Only December" file, the Sporting News proclaims: "Hoyas Are The Season's Biggest Disappointment".
Assistant editor Erin Farrell writes: "They were No. 8 in the country, returning three starters and facing a nonconference schedule that ranked 102nd in Division I -- an always tough game against Duke the only speed bump before a January 13 matchup with Pittsburgh to determine Big East superiority."
Farrell picks Michigan to win by two Saturday. Can't disagree that the Hoyas have been disappointing, but Assistant Editor Farrell just happens to be a Terp (2005 graduate). She also appears to have extensive sports journalism experience -- check out those internships!

If they lose to Michigan they will be the biggest disappointment from the preseason Top 25. If they win, then they will be ranked again and their only real bad loss will be ODU as OU and Duke are both high quality teams. Cannamelaholebag

Can't get your feathers ruffled everytime somebody says something about the Hoyas that we don't like.
I'm just keeping the rice & gravy warm to serve with the 'crow' that the Hoyas will be cookin' up this season.

so far the hoyas have been the biggest disappointment if you believed they were really the 8th best team in the country...
i had them at 20ish...so they will be right back in that spot should they beat michigan and notre dame
for me the biggest fraud in the top 25 is ohio state...they are still ranked way too high

At least the Buckeyes have played good competition. Who has UConn played? I 'd take a few losses early if it gets the team on track.

Hmmm. I have to agree with KG. As the season has progressed, Oregon is looking more and more like a "good" loss (if there is such a thing), and depending on how ODU does in the CAA, it could soothe that sting, too.
Also, I don't see the Hoyas as a "disappointment" per se, but the season has been "disappointing" thus far. A win versus the Corn & Blue, the Mock Turtleneck Team, and Villanofun will shut up the critics. Even 2-1 with a win over ranked ND will do the job. 1-2 would be a disappointment. 0-3 would be a disaster.
SO let's go 3-0 in the next 3, Hoyas!

The reason we are not ranked is more a reflection that we have beaten nobody as opposed to losing 3 games. There are teams with 2-3 losses who are ranked because they also have some decent wins. It's also hard to complain about an undefeated team being ranked regardless of their competition.
I'd be very surprised if we are ranked unless we win the next 4 games (Mich, ND, Nova, Pitt). If we lose any of those games, it's hard to imagine us being ranked at all this year until mid-February regardless of how many wins we pile up against Rutgers, Seton Hall, Cincy, Depaul and St. John's.
It's a good thing ranking means nothing so long as we make the NCAA tournament.

Definitely not worth getting our feathers ruffled by this 24 YO UMCP fool who works for a formerly great publication that is now sliding into irrelevance. How the WNBA beat or the Blueclaws baseball beat prepared her for making NCAA BBall prognostications, we will never know. I guess it was the beach volleyball coverage that makes her an expert.

And it's better to be the "biggest disappointment" in December rather than March. We've been righting the ship ever since the Duke loss, and now we have a semi-legitimate OOC team to really prove ourselves against. I don't think this is the "good win" that we are looking for yet, but it's a step in that direction. Let's do it. And by the way, I don't get ruffled easily when articles criticize us, that's all part of the game, but I think this one is poorly written and the analysis is way off. I mean, she writes "the source of the team's misery is the lack of a go-to-guy late in games." She then lists our top three's scoring averages as all hovering around 11 points. Really? I'm pretty sure that was the case last year, and we did all right. She also says that our losses to Oregon and Duke were worse because they were a combined 16 points. Yet we were leading at the half at both of those. I really don't think she's watched a single one of our games this year. That and, with all of her nice "internships," she is, you know, a Twerp.

Comparing our success to that of the Redskins might not be so bad. After all, I'm pretty sure we can all agree that the Redskins are at their best in March and April. ;D ;D

Well put, Hoyasexy! No matter what happens during the season, the Skins always win the offseason.
I feel the same way as CA -- I don't mind criticism if it's deserved or accurate. What gets my goad is poor analysis based on a cursory glance at the facts. Ah, Twerps ....

Disappointment? Well it is according who you listen to. Is the cup half full or half empty??? I believe some writer's want to put heat on JT3....They sate we got 3 starter's returning. Well I see it as 3 starter's we lost!!! Cook, BB and Owens. Owens was like a starter. That is a lot of experience we lost! Anyhow the best is yet to come for Hoya nation!!!!

The best part of the article is in the prediction when she wites "Michigan looks like it has overachieved."
I know I was shocked when they beat Wofford and stayed within 40 of UCLA. Overachievers for sure.

Disappointment? Hey the article claims we have 3 starter's returning. I say we lost 3 starter's BB, Cook and Owens. Yes O was like a starter. It is all on how you see things. Is the cup ha lf empty or is it half full. We lost a lot of experience that we really depended on the last 3 years.....The future is bright of Hoya nation!!!
