Big Expectations for Both Georgetown and Michigan
www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/29/AR2006122901282.html
With Big East and Big Ten play beginning next week, today's game marks the last chance for Georgetown and Michigan to grab an important nonconference win.
"If Michigan wins and Georgetown starts playing like we thought they would, it could be a big win for Michigan," said Jerry Palm, a college basketball analyst who runs the Web site collegerpi.com. "If Georgetown wins and Michigan finishes third in the Big Ten, it could be the kind of a win that ends up being a positive thing in the eyes of committee" that chooses which schools get into the NCAA tournament.
"But really, until we see what the teams do from here, it's hard to say," he continued. "We don't know enough about either team to say which direction they'll go from here. It may be completely irrelevant."
WashTimes article:
Patience for Amaker runs low

At best, Tommy Amaker's tenure at Michigan has inspired ambivalence. At worst, outright angst.
Ask any Michigan basketball fan or read any column on the Wolverines and you're likely to receive some version of the following sentiment regarding the team's sixth-year coach: superb person, excellent recruiter, unacceptable record.
In today's what-have-you-done-for-me-lately culture, college coaching is an often-cruel, bottom-line business -- particularly at a major-conference school like Michigan. Fact is, the Wolverines haven't been to the NCAA tournament since 1998, a staggering streak of futility Amaker hasn't been able to reverse since taking over for Brian Ellerbe before the 2001-02 season.
Thanks to lic for taking over the past couple games, but I'm back in the saddle. As far as I'm concerned, there's only one proper way to predict this game in light of today's events. No obscure alums, no Chris Webber jokes, just:
Bill Clinton - 68
Gerald Ford - 59
