For the twenty minutes I saw, he missed just about every layup he took. We've got a similarly talented player in Vern and a much more skilled player in DaJuan. We'll be fine.

He finished w/ 16 and 8 and some of those boards were huge. He had a ton of energy, played in position and and was a key reason for today's huge comeback.
As for Vern, I get really excited every time he comes into the game, but I'm not sure yet why. He looks like he's always thinking about the next dunk instead of the play that's actually happening. Comparing Crews and Vern at this point is sadly not fair. Crews is making an impact.

I think Vern would be making a similar impact if he were playing 30+ minutes on a running team.

Who is playing 30 minutes a game? Crews? He's playing 20, averaging 10 and 6. Which is more time than Macklin, fair enough. But there is clearly a reason why Summers is getting 20+ minutes a game and Macklin is catching splinters. He's just not that good yet.

I think Macklin's minutes may be effected by having two Wooden Award candidates in front of him. Maybe that's just me though.

I'm not so sure Crews would be "good enough" either at this stage. Unless he can shoot a three or is an above average ball-handler, he would not be getting much run. And until this team starts going more uptempo (hopefully when Austin and Chris arrive) Crews' would not be able to display all of his strengths as a player (ala Macklin). Trust me as raw as Macklin is if he was playing 20 plus minutes for a running team he would have put up some similiar numbers to Crews. But you see Macklin has to learn a much more complicated and discipline system than Crews is learning. He might suffer for it early but hopefully down the road he will be a much better all around player (and a better player than Crews) because of the teaching he gets. And, by the way in THIS system Summers is a better fit than Crews anyway.
Edited to add: I just saw that Tennessee scored 111 points during an OT win. Can you imagine the amount of possessions there must have been for each team and how many easy, fast break points? Its easier to put up such numbers in such a style of play. It doesn't necessarily mean the player is better or has a halfcourt game though.

That's not the point. Of course he is a good player. But I'm not sure he gives the team necessarily what it doesn't already have sitting on the bench. And I am certain he would have more stumbling blocks to overcome in this offense than he does with the Tennessee offense. Hell, the same could be said of Paul Harris. Harris does a lot of great things but if you leave him open for a jump shot chances are he isn't making it. Like it or not that gets players bench time in this system even if they have all the athletic talent in the world.

He played hard...I really appreciated that.
Glad the Hoyas have who they have. I really like Egerson's game. Would like to see him get more minutes.
