Did we really need to retain a media market in Florida that badly? Is it too late to stick USF in the Sun Belt for hoops?

I didn't think much of USF last year, either. But they played us tough both times we met and got their only conference win against us -- in March, no less. Surely we're not candidates for the Sun Belt, are we?

I'd love to be able to discount USF (or anyone else) but we can't take any games lightly, as the ODU game so poignantly illustrated.

Posting in from Singapore while on travel.....
TAM-CC consistently has a good team. Either last year or the year before, they had a very legitimate record, especially considering that they play a murderer's row of teams. They usually spring at least one upset a year, too.

Weren't they talking to the coach of TAM-CC on the JTII show last year during the tourney?
I think this guy runs a pretty good and respected program.
Disappointing for USF though.

USF should be discarded from the Big East as soon as humanly possible. Don't need 'em in football, don't need 'em in basketball.
Gotta be a legit mid-major they could pull in from somewhere.

TA&MCC is a good team, for a mid-major. Well coached and tough. BCS conf teams are scared to play them, bc of what happened to USF.
That said, USF needs to do something about its program. God awful.

Despite its much larger profile and some basketball persona (Rick Barry's alma mater), Miami didn't exactly light up the Big East when it joined the conference in the early nineties. As I recall, they had a similar 1-17 conference record to USF their first year. It wasn't until Leonard Hamilton was named coach a couple of seasons later that they started to become a factor in conference play. I say give USF another season or so before making a judgment.

Well, ODU beat UAB. That's gotta count for something.

These would be much stronger arguments had they not beat us last year. Give USF a few years of getting pummeled by superior competition and then, if they haven't pulled together a legit program, talk about booting them will be relevant. In the meantime, our head-to-head with them last year was 1-1.

USF has established themselves as a legit bowl-bound football program and therefore $$$ maker for the Big East Conf. They won't be going anywhere.

I'll be damned, USF lost again tonight against UNLV. Who could have saw this comming? Same UNLV team that beat Fazekas and Nevada at Nevada. Not such a bad loss for USF.
