It would be nice if we finished 2-1 against the CAA instead of 1-2.

This Gary Neal character sounds pretty good--26.1 ppg last year, leading returning scorer in the country.

Neal is basically towson's only ptp'er...he is the only player that averages double-digit pts and also takes about 18 shots per game, making about 7 of the, for an under 40% clip. if we contain him to these type percentages, we win handily.

Yeah and our style of play isn't conducive to opposing players "going off". He's a chucker but not the type of player that is going to lift his team to victory. The Temple result is an eye-opener and, for that reason, I'm glad it happened pre- the GU-Towson match-up. But...BE is right around the corner, finals are in the rearview and JTIII will have the guys ready to play.

[Insert boilerplate discussion about guard play here] This Gary Neal character also was one of the LaSalle players that had a little - um - incident a few years ago that led to him transferring to Towson. If there were a student section this week, I'm guessing a "No Means No!" chant would be in order.

I was going to say the same thing pg. Why is Temple some measuring stick? They're in a major transition year on every front. It's not even close to being a good comparison. Towson on the road has beaten William and Mary and gotten bombed by Kansas and Western Kentucky. This is yet again, a nice game that provides some resistence but one the Hoyas at this stage should win handily.

I'd like to lodge a complaint about the Pre-Game report on the front page:
"On the other side of the ball, Georgetown continues to put up some very 1990's-like three point numbers which could really hurt the Hoyas in conference play. "
Come on...
Here are the 3-pt percentages for the 1990s:
90-91: 25.7% 91-92: 31.6% 92-93: 31.9 93-94: 31.3 94-95: 28.7 95-96: 33.1 96-97: 29.8 97-98: 28.7 98-99: 30.3 99-00: 29.4
and our shooting for this season.... 34.8%
Which is the seventh-best 3-pt percentage in GU history, and the third best after the 89-90 season.
I can understand the value of hyperbole in writing previews, but this one is quite inaccurate, as well as particularly ill-timed, considering the Hoyas have hit more than 41% of their 3-pointers over the last three games.

Even better:
2005-06: 35.5% 2006-07: 34.8%
Ooooh, man we've really regressed! What's that, on three pointer difference every seven games? Now, granted, the former had a harder schedule to date, but anyone else think we were less than a % worse than last year?
BTW, the Hoyas shot nearly identical in conference and out of conference. We don't take many contested threes, so I guess that isn't surprising.

I'm most interested to see if we can have a fifth and sixth player step up.
In my mind, Jessie has come very close to solidifying his starting hold. But DaJuan's spot is still up for grabs, I think. Marc would have it, but his inability to hit an open three has hurt him. Tyler has been sick. DaJuan has been the best and worst player on the team at different times.
I'd like to see someone step up and be that starter, and well as see one of the other two step up and be the first perimeter player off the bench. Either way, we need more consistent play from them come BE time.

Offensive boards, extending the lineup to allow for more pressure to force more turnovers, playing better help defense, not allowing opponents to win the FT battle, and making smart decisions with the ball. That's what the Hoyas need to work on right now.
Three-point shooting is a red herring. We're #1 in the Big East in overall FG%. You win championships with easy baskets. The reason? They're easy!
I am very confident that if we win the possession battle going forward, we'll win those games. If we were a bad shooting team overall, I'd worry. But a medicore outside shooting team? Not the biggest issue by a long shot.

is the game going to be televised on MASN or any of the regional FSN channels? Nope, no TV, but this will be the last game like this for the rest of the season. Navy will be on MASN, Michigan on ESPN, and all of Big East play will either be on MASN, ESPN, ESPN2, or CBS. Will be listening intently to Rich starting at 4:30pm Pacific Time. Dare I say it, this game reminds me a little of the Norfolk State game two years ago, when they pushed us into overtime before we won. I know, it's only similar timing, and we have a much better team this time. But that slight uneasy feeling makes me think they hang around for a while, but we pull away late first half and early second. Go Hoyas, play well, shut down Gary Neal, and earn a nice, comfortable victory over the Tigers.

Besides Neal, I think we have to be wary of Dennard Abraham. He's got size (6'8'' 245#) and scored 25 in his last game. He can also hit the 3. He's flying under the radar this year because an injury sidelined him a couple games.
GO HOYAS! This day just will not end .... wait, it's 6. Time to walk to Chinatown.
