G'town continues to slide, despite the win against ORU, receiving 2 pts. ( link) this week after 5 pts. last week. Roughly, Hoyas dropped from T-39th to T-41st.

Dont expect much until January. Nothing we do between now and the Michigan game can impress voters.

No need to worry folks. THe only "poll" that really matters is the Vegas Poll of our chances of winning the national championship.
For that poll we're tied for 10th or so...now that's the poll I care about.
Vegas still knows how good we can become. A couple of losses early won't kill us and may help the freshmen and sophs really come along at a quicker pace.

All that matters is getting the players used to JTIII's system by the start of the real season, Jan. 6.

ironic, Oregon and duke are in the top 25. Yes we lost but the losses don't look as bad. I bet ODU ends up winning their conf as well. Other schools that have had bad losses like Marquette, Wisconsin, kansas etc... dropped but not off the map like we did. It frustrates me because espn only shows top 25 highlights. we beat vandy at home, vandy beat gtech, gtech beat memphis. we beat oral roberts who beat kansas. I hope this makes ud mad.

Marquette, Wisconsin, and Kansas also all have quality wins over teams currently in the top 25 (Duke, Marquette, Florida), something we do not have yet. Here's something strange: Oklahoma State beats Syracuse and Ball State last week and improves to 11-0, rises to #15 in the AP Poll, yet drops out of the Coaches' Poll without receiving any votes!? I've checked to see if this is a typo, but it seems like it's not, I have no idea what's going on there.

A couple of losses early won't kill us and may help the freshmen and sophs really come along at a quicker pace. Sometimes they "get it right" but most of the time they don't. I was fortunate enough to stumble into the Plaza Hotel and Casino last year when I was there for a convention. They had the Gators at 60:1, which I think were the opening odds. But by that point in the season, we were 14-0 and ranked 2nd to Duke. Ironically the next Saturday we would lose to Tennessee on the same day that someone beat Pittsgurgh and of course you guys knocked off the Blue Devils ... and then there were none ... no more undefeated teams that is.

The key about everyone else's bad losses is that there aren't more than two of them. Right now, there are no teams in the top 25 with 3 losses.
Just need to win, and the rankings will take care of themselves. But I agree with those that say these losses won't look terrible in the long run as long as we do well in conference.

Note that Notre Dame is now ranked 21 in the AP poll (where we got 25 votes). Suddenly that game is looking like a very important game as we start our conference season.

Not too much to worry about here. If you look at our track record so far, by no right do we deserve to be ranked; we probably don't deserve any votes. That being said, however, I don't feel like its a big deal at all. A strong Big East season will certainly overcome all early season blemishes in the eyes of the pollsters and the NCAA Tournament Committee, and thats what really matters.

there's absolutely no way we don't deserve any votes. if you look at some of the teams at the bottom of the also recieving votes we deserve them just as much as those teams do.

really, who cares? is there anything as meaningless as the basketball coaches poll? we got our little taste early in the year, we blew it, and now we're on the outs for a while. it has absolutely zero impact on the work of the NCAA selection committee, which is all that matters. the only thing it might affect is attention from the talking heads and the level of intensity brought by our opponents. None of those matter right now either because we are in the midst of a very important process of getting the team firing on all cylinders in time for conference play.
I feel much better than I did a week ago, having survived that tough five game stretch at 3-2. I'd have preferred 4-1, but we didn't get there. Let's focus on beating a disappointing Michigan team and then dominating in conference play.

I would recomend printing out this page because it will be very comforting to look at while rooting for your Terps in the first round of the NIT
