Seeing Valvano's ESPY speech again made my night. Agreed......something I look forward to every year. It is amazing how energetic he is during the speech when you think about the trouble he had just getting to and from the podium. To see it after watching Syracuse lose their 2nd in a row just made it all the better.

Hoyas win, Cuse lost - good night!!!
Its funny, before the game I received an email from one of my Syracuse friends, "so how does a two-game losing streak feel?" I'm SO glad I waited until after the game to respond back with the exact same question.

I can see you wanting cuse to lose because of that friend, but like it or not - it still means it's a loss for the league which I don't like. I hope we SMOKE them this year to pay them back for the BET last year.

Confession: I root for Syracuse (and UConn, Nova, etc.) to win out of conference. My desire to see the Big East successful (and consequently stable) supersedes any anger I have toward any other team in the conference, even Syracuse. The Big East has enough teams losing OOC games to wreck the Conference RPI (including us ) that we really need the top half and teams like 'Cuse to win these sorts of games. Does this make me a poor fan? Am I excommunicated from Hoya Blue for admitting this?

RBHoya, I understand your point. I root for all other Big East teams besides Syracuse. However, you clearly need to join us on our road trip to Cuse in Feb. One minute in a dome full of Syracuse fans will be all you need to never root for Cuse again.

it's a horrible thing what happened to valvano, but the guy was a slimeball. espn makes him seem like the pope though, not mentioning what he did during his career.
josh wright stinks. su goes nowhere with him running the team.
a hoyas fan NEVER NEVER NEVER roots for syracuse, under any circumstances. if they play duke, i root for a tsunami to wipe out the arena.

Yeah, I could really stand to see more than just three Big East teams ranked at the start of next week, cause Cuse is headed in the wrong direction at the moment. Certainly the BE needs a few more "Depaul over Kansas" games and less "ND State over Marquette" or "Cuse can't beat ranked teams" games. Lots of teams with good overall records in the BE right now, but not a ton of marquee wins. Besides, it's more fun to beat up on a rival team when they're good.

Rooting for Syracuse makes baby Jesus cry.
Cam is right. There are no two ways about this one, there is no rationalization, there is no Big East conference argument, there is no circumstance ever wherein it is OK to root for Syracuse.
The Baker-Hamilton Commission report could indicate that the only path to victory in Iraq is Syracuse winning. I would not root for Syracuse.
Osama bin Laden could issue a speech saying that he would stand down global jihad and call for all of his supporters to lay down their arms and embrace the infidel if Syracuse wins. I would not root for Syracuse.
Jennifer Connelly or Joely Richardson -- or both -- could call me up and tell me they would marry me if Syracuse wins. I would not root for Syracuse.
OK, well maybe that last one.......NO! No, no, no, no, no, no...NO!
It...Is...Not...Repeat...NOT!...OK....To...Root...For...Syracuse!

Never, EVER root for Syracuse. Never. Seriously, never. I'm not kidding... I agree. I will root for every other Big East team when they play out of conference, but as far as I'm concerned SU-cks can go 0-for-forever. Boeheim = poop.

I was at this game last night actually and Harris looks really good. He did very little throughout the game but when it was crunch time he wanted the ball and took over the game. Also I was very impressed with Ok st.'s Boggan (I think he was #4) who is a great player and really dominated the first half.
Because it was a double header I also caught the first half of the Louisville vs. Arizona game. Arizona looks legit and minus a long shooting slump (it spanned the end of the first and start of the second) they played really well. Budinger can jump through the roof and has a great shooting touch.
Non game observations --- They were already posting adds for St. John's home games (which includes GU.
Andy Katz is FAT.
Mike Jarvis and Renaldo Balkman sat by me.
I hate Cuse fans, they are so misinformed about how to play basketball. According to their fans they had 0 fouls last night and every call was bull poop.

Doesn't she look a little "worn" to you? Hmm............ The British accent goes a long way. Until J.C. turns 40 in a couple of years I still maintain that J.R. is the hottest woman over 40 in the world. But any discussion of that should probably head over to Blue & Gray. Die, Syracuse, Die!!! (and no, that's not German for "that, Syracuse, that!")
