The princeton O is not going to work with this team. We simply do not have the players to make it work as we did last season. Either make some adjustments or scrap it altogether. Right now we are trying to hammer a circle peg into a triangle peg holder.
We will not beat a single ranked team if the structure of the O does not change
This is the worse duke team i have ever seen, and we could not beat them. It is going to be a long season if changes are not made.
Players make the system!!!!!!

It's not that the system doesn't work. The system ran beautifully last year... the system worked just fine for Jeff and Roy, who are the principle problems areas this year.
The principle problem is that nobody else is realiable enough from outside to open things up for the backdoor cut and for post plays down low, as well as a ridiculus reluctace from Jeff and Roy to get physical down low.

The problem is also turnovers and lack of rebounding!!! They aren't turnovers because of good defense either.....may of our TOs are just from sloppy play or lack of aggression. Every time Jeff got the ball inside last night, he looked like he had no idea what he wanted to do with the ball or when he did, he did it so tentatively that the defense was all over him.
As far as shooters, we don't have the number we did last year, but we should be able to find one or two guys out of Wallace, Sapp, Rivers, Summers, Egerson and Crawford that are shooting well on a given night to open things up a little bit.

It is the system!! It worked last yr b/c we had players with the skill set to make the princeton O work. This yr we dont and coach needs to alter or scrap the system and develop one that compliments this teams skill set We are at a cross road right now!!!! Will coach check his ego at the door and admit his system wont work with this team, or will he take the stance that his system was the reason for last yrs success rather than the players

So how did the offense look so good in the 1st half? The system works when it is run......the second half was not "the system" JTIII wants his team to run. There was a lot of standing around, dribbling outside and fumbling the ball when it got inside. The difference in movement without the ball was enormous between halves. The difference in aggression with the ball was too. In the first half, we had Roy dunking, Jessie pushing the ball, Wallace and Rivers shooting some big mid-range jumpers and Jeff creating a lot of chances for teammates with good passes because people were moving. In the second half, all of that disappeared.

In the second half he mixed his D schemes and we looked like complete fools on O We have no quick hitters or set plays for jeff. Everything is princeton O. We dont have the shooters to make this O work Good coaches adjust to their current players

From what I saw, Coach K did 2 things- he had his guys play zone about two times down the floor and took off some pressure to prevent the backdoor. Our players reluctance to step up in crunch time.......both when Duke started cutting our lead and at the end of the game.......was what killed us. That reluctance is what leads to poor shots, turnovers and sloppy execution.

Did you lose any frustrating games because your team didn't execute? Or, did you go undefeated because you had the best talent in the League?
