is that oregon played man the WHOLE game. everyone, including me, were waiting for a team to be idiotic enough (like vandy) to play man thinking we'd destroy them. well, i guess not. i'm shocked, just absolutely shocked that we played that badly against a team that plays right into our hands with their style of play. last years team would have eaten this oregon team for lunch. oh, where have you gone cook, bowman, and owens......

They were backcutting. 99% of them resulted in turnovers.

I was thinking the same thing during the game. We normally smash man D's especially with a bunch of small guys. There guards did what we need and that is to penetrate and get easy baskets. We barely had an easy basket all night long.

Overall, there seems to be a decline in movement this year (based on observations at the three Verizon center games). We used to crush man D because of the defense's inability to stay with their man while he makes multiple cuts on each posession.
When the guys aren't cutting as much, it doesn't matter whether the D is man, zone, or maybe even something really cool that I don't know about.
It was so sweet watching us backdoor the Dookies last year, I hope III has us watching film of that before saturday because I would love to see a repeat performance of that this year.

I remember one time down the court where Jeff brought the ball up and Sapp, Rivers, Summers and I believe Egerson were on teh court and nobody moved a muscle untill JEff handed the ball off to Sapp.
THAT's where our inexperience killed us. These guys just don't know what to do! It's man and we've got 5 people standing around the arc waiting for someone else to intiate. As a good a passer as Jeff is, he can't force people to move.

Spacing is an issue as well it seems.

Owens was the best 'cutter' we had last year, and Cook & Bowman moved well without the ball as well -- Egerson, Sapp, Crawford, Rivers need to move better, and hopefully they will. If you look back at the games from last year, his cuts at key times was a BIG part of our offense.

Crawford was also one of the best cutters on the team last year. We'll see if his return has a positive impact (I hope it does).
